AMEX regarding adding AU

Does AMEX let you add AU if they have a BK (5 years post BK) on their CR"s?

Before it is asked, no AMEX was not included in the BK. Yes they have started rebuilding their credit and no negative reporting since BK.

Yes. As long as they didnt burn AMEX they will let you add them as a AU.

You can even add Santa as an AU to Amex, they didn't verify the AU identity at all...

I added my wife as an AU, my wife doesn't have a social security number, She is not even a US resident. I added her without filling the SSN field, card in hand within few days.

How do you go about doing that? I tried applying over the phone and they asked for a social security. So I guess you have to ask for the other way over the phone? Is there a way to do it on the computer without adding a social?

Goto your amex account page

click "customer service" ---> click "Add someone to your account" ----> "Add additional card"

fill name and birthdate... leave the SSN empty , then hit continue...

Card will be in mail withing few days, BK or no BK, they will not verify the additional authorized user, the original account owner is the responsible dude

Hello Raziel!

What would happen if your wife eventually finds a job in the USA and gets a Social Security Number? Would this card be added to her credit file history helping this way her credit profile?

She will get a SSN soon, I/she will call Amex and ask them to add the SSN to her AU profile when she gets it. hoping this will save me a lot of time and efforts in building her credit history in USA.

maybe after 6 months she can apply for amex card, hopefully she gets approved, if not then it is an hard pull in her CR.

I would like to do the same with my wife, she is in a very similar situation like your wife. I hope this will help in the future when we start building her credit history. How long after adding her did her card take to arrive?
