First IMO I would not drop the older crap cards as you call them. Your history is still only a few years old and they are actually helping you more then hurting you if they are PIF.

To help you with what others have received they would need more information about your credit profile.

Account

Credit Limit

Date Opened

Date Closed

Late Payments

Charge-Offs

Collections

Just giving DTI, your age and income is not a way to be comparable to others results.

I was instantly approved online for a Blue Cash in 11/9 with a CL of $8.3k. They pulled EX, but I had EQ 737 and TU 742 at that time, my UT was about 20%, no baddies and AAoA of 4.5 years with my oldest account being 7.5 years.

HTH.

PS Nice income for a 21 y.o. You are also correct that your scores should show improvement with paying off the accounts bringing down your UTIL. IME and from what others say on here and other forums it is usually best to leave a small amount on 1 CC (<9%, but works better for me if I leave at <3%) while the others are all at 0.

IMO I think either NATIONWIDE and or AMEX will give you a decent CL. I just recently applied for Blue Cash and CL was 10,500.

I was approved for both of Nationwide's cards (Personal and Business) back in January, with a similar profile to yours. I was 20 at the time, a few years of credit, and income was around $65,000.

I was instantly approved. Limits were $7.5k and $5k, for the personal and business, respectively. They have since upped my limits to $12.5k and $7.5k.

No negatives on my report, and UTL at the time was around 20%. DTI probably was around 1-2%, if that.

Thank you everyone for the replies.

MyFicoAddict and TheCreditKid, I applied at the company I work for because someone I know used to be a senior manager. I got a call the next day for an interview and was lucky enough to get the job. Over the last seven years I have been fortunate enough to have worked for companies in the same field and have had many accomplishments through them. I know that I am lucky to be where I am right now!!
