Zync Zync Zync .....lol I'm tired of all these Zync stories where are my plat card holders at....what were some of your experiences.

Well Zync is a fairly new product and because their are alot of rebuilders on this forum and the Zync is easier to qualify and get approved for, I believe you will be seeing more of "Znyc approved" threads.

I'm curious about Platinum as well.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how the companion flight ticket works? A friend of ours who had the card years ago said it he had to go through Amexs' agency and it nothing was ever available on the dates he needed. Also heard that the initial flight costs more through Amex than if you booked it yourself elsewhere.

But as this was years ago, wondering if anything's changed?

Many people here are rebuilders and ZYNC is a good way to get in with AMEX.

I am a plat member and although I have not taken advantage of that benefit as of yet. U do have to book through Amex and it is more expensive plus there are no more domestic flights included The free companion ticket Is exclusive to international flights only

I am trying to become a Platinum member, but my grandfather has a black card (I wonder if he will make me an AU?).

A lot of us do not care to dish out $450/year for it unless you travel a ton. Even then, I feel the AMEX Gold Premiere Rewards would be better. I've had the option to do AMEX Platinum but I cannot justify a $450 fee. Plus, if I wanted to make someone an AU it's $175! That's ridiculous.

The only advantage besides travel in the past for the platinum is you had to have the platinum to get invited to black card. Now it's basically open to anyone who can spend the bucks so why bother... Especially here in LA, everyone has platinum, the Zync is so new, I have had many people think it was higher up the chain and wanted to know what it was, etc.

Who thought Zync was higher then Platinum?

I'm a Platinum card holder, and I used to charge about 10K a month on travel related charges. That was when Amex still had great customer service and a good rewards program. Problem was, almost every month they short changed me thousands of points and pretended like it was an honest mistake ALMOST every month. I got tired of it, so I only use the card for big things when I can benefit big time.

I think it could be a great card IF you travel out of the country at least once per year, and IF they offer a companion buisness class ticket, and IF the first ticket doesn't cost thousands more than purchasing directly through the airline, and finally, IF the dates you need to travel are available.

Those four "IF's" is what's keeping my husband from applying.

AMEX keeps offering me Platinum, and I could easily afford the increased annual fee, but most of the perks I'd get with Platinum that I don't already get with Gold are geared to frequent travelers. Some years ago these travel services might have been worth it for me, but these days I just don't spend enough time on the road to justify the cost. For instance, Platinum would get me free access to airline lounges which would be great if I spent more time in airports.

Well, I've never been inside one but I believe basically a more comfortable place to spend your time at the airport: better chairs, free wi-fi at airports where the masses have to pay for wi-fi (in some airports everybody gets free wi-fi), possibly free food and drinks, etc. But probably the main advantage is just being in a quiet place away from the noise and bustle found in the rest of the airport.
