Dell Preferred Account SUCCESS!

So I had a Dell account from like 2005, well in 2007 when I filed for bk 13 Dell closed out my $0 card and changed status to included in BK. I have disputed it many times since saying I shouldn't have a negative on my report for a $0 loss account.... It always came back verified, well anyway now Dell is backed by Web Bank vs. CIT and I was shopping for a TV today and applied... 30 seconds later it says verify your social you already have an account... next window pops up with my old account $0, $0 available.

So I call, first guy transfers me to the collection agency because he saw account included in bk, they confirm it's $0 and are faxing me letter.

So I call back and get a very nice, english speaking women, who says yes I can see it here hold... she comes back and says it was in your bk, I say how can something that was a $0 be in my bk, she says I see your point, hold for me again... after about 5 minutes she comes back and says my manager is removing your restrictions and the account will be available for use in 2-3 days!!!

I don't believe any credit check was done and if they do just reinstate my old account, that would give me over 5 years and change my status back to paying as agreed, What a christmas bonus to get 1 more negative off and get a new tv

Congratz on getting that taken care of. I am not going to lie, your bankruptcy attorney was not very good and I would have made them fix that mess. If an account has a zero balance, then it should not have been included in the bankruptcy paperwork.

I went through my bankruptcy and my dell account (and a couple others) had a zero balance. Since they were showing on my credit report with a zero balance, they were not included in any of my bankruptcy paperwork. So, that meant I didn't have to worry about those accounts being closed, and it actually helped me after my discharge because I had a $2500 credit limit, so I was able to make a purchase that same month and start making payments so that I could have a positive tradeline on my credit.

Ah, well, anyhow, on a different note, I did call them about a week ago to ask for a CLI (because I've had a $2500) limit for about 3 years now, and got the same, "oh we are not doing manual credit limit increases". I would told that I would have to wait for an automatic review. So, I asked how often do the automatic reviews happen, and she couldn't even tell me that. So, I told her that I didn't understand. I said, you are telling me that you cannot initiate a manual review, yet you cannot even tell me when these automatic reviews take place. So, I asked to speak with a supervisor. Well, same person comes back on the phone and basically said "supervisor says the same thing". And I told her, that is fine, but I want to talk with the supervisor. Well, then I was mysteriously disconnected.

In a ch 13, anyone listed on your credit report gets a letter saying you are in bk, but your account is not included type thing.... Dell is the one that closed the account out and said it was included in the bk, Dell was not in my papers to be filed on.

Same thing for my stupid student loans, you can't file on them but while in ch 13, they go in to deferment and they can not contact you and they were also reported included... I continued to pay on them because interest is still calculated and I only owed like $1300... I paid them off before the end of my bk, but they STILL say they are reported correctly as included in bk... gives me 3 more negatives!

with those remaining negatives, are they going to fall off with the bk?

That is good information to know. Sucky information, but good to know. I guess maybe a Chapter 7 worked differently? With mine, none of my student loans were included nor contacted, and neither was anything with a zero balance.

Congrats! I have bought 2 TV's from dell and I can tell you the price on the website is not the lowest theyll go. Call the number and tell them you want a better price. It worked both times for me and the last time they beat anyone elses price by 200 dollars including ebay prices.

well right now they have a 2 day sale, and it's $600 off, not sure I will get better than that!

YES! Thats what happened to me I called and said I found a better deal and they took more off. Give it a try and tell them your not going to buy it unless you get a discount. I said no if I didnt get a discount and hung up and they called be back 1 min later and gave me a better deal!

I should have known better than to think 1 person would follow all the way through and do as they said... Try to order my TV today and type my info to look up an account... last week it was populating an account with no CL, this week... it says no account exists!!

I will try to work on this with financial services later when I'm not at work, but I think it's a lost cause and probably a sign my "want of a bigger tv" is not justified.

I have a closed Dell account (closed by me and paid in full). If I re-apply, I wonder, do they go all the way back to that account with that history, or do they give me a whole new account?

It's a new account unless they reopen the old which seems unlikely.
