App spree results

Lowes: $1500 (not really part of the spree but got it about a month beforehand and I can't stand GEMB)

Nationwide Bank: requested to review my tax returns

I regret doing the Lowes one but I was buying multiple appliances and that got me an additional 10% off of them. Otherwise, this card does absolutely nothing as far as I can tell.

Discover stated I was denied because of a previous or present Discover card. I did have one back in the day. I'm curious, can you have more than one Discover card?

BOA severely dislikes me. I've been banking with them for almost 6 years. I have 3 accounts with them. I had a $10k secured card with them for over a year, until this year, and they still deny me. Sigh. I think it has to do with a false BOA entry on my CRs that I gave up trying to remove after trying for, literally, years. It's an extremely old, and wrong, student loan.

Amex surprised me since I had a chargeoff/settlement with them about 5-6 years ago. I was really surprised they accepted me. This chargeoff is still on my Experian report, which is what they checked. They even backdated it to 2001!

Time to garden big time. I haven't applied for anything since summer 2009. Now I'm waiting until 2012.

I do not know if Discover let's you have more then 1 product from them so I am no help there.

BoA is funny in their decision making and they never surprise me on what they will or will not do. While I have never had a problem with BoA myself I have heard and read about many others who have. Just recently they lowered my APR which didn't matter since I never leave a balance on their card while increasing my CL to 11,500. As of yesterday they sent me a notice for 0% BT for 21 months and no fees before June 2011. It may be possible I am on BoA likable list, but I have no rhyme or reason as to why.

Thank you! My scores were about what you see in my sig. My TU has one baddie from about 6 years ago. It's a student loan that isn't mine and due to fall off in a year or so.

EX also has that same baddie student loan, an Amex chargeoff from about 5 years ago (and Amex checked this and gave me a card anyway) and an alleged $6100 HSBC chargeoff from 6 years ago that I've been fighting against for years (with attorneys).

EQ has the student loan, a legit Discover paid chargeoff from 6 years ago and the aforementioned $6100 baddie.

I just faxed in my 2010 taxes today to Nationwide and will give them a call on Monday or Tuesday.

Just an FYI, Nationwide, Barclay's and Lowes (GEMB) all pulled TU, Amex and BOA pulled EX while Discover pulled Equifax.

I guess I should add that in good standing I have 2 Macy's accounts (showing no limit of course), a $1500 and $4000 Cap One card, a Kay Jewelers card and a puny $300 Citgo card that I just canceled today. I'm also an authorized user on a Citibank Hilton Honors and a Chase Amazon card. I also have numerous paid early car loans, as well as small closed credit cards, throughout the years.

It really has been a long and winding road (Beatles reference) but I have learned an incredible amount from this site. In 1-1½ years all my CRs should be clear of any baddies and I will finally be starting anew.

are you going to allow nationwide to see your tax returns? i received the same request from them on my recent app spree. so far i have not approved their request for the transcript, but i'm still on the fence. on the pro side, they might approve me for a decent CL, which would be nice for my util. on the con side, i'm giving up a lot of personal financial info and who knows where that will go. what's your take on it?

They gave me the number so I could personally fax it to them versus me taking the time to mail them that form and having them obtain my returns from the IRS. Honestly, it really didn't bother me. They already have my SS# from the application and have seen my credit report. If anything, my returns probably show me bringing in a little higher than I had put on my app. I really don't think their credit dept. will do anything abnormal with my tax info rather than decipher my credit worthiness with them.

This is just how I look at it though and can understand some people being wary of it. For me, I think it helped cutting out the middleman (IRS) and sending it directly to them.

Congrats clocktick! I also recently went on a application spree, but i was wayy irresponsible! I regret some of these, but here it goes:

Fingerhut $300 pulled EQ

Shell/Citi $400 pulled EQ

Target $300 pulled EQ

Discover $1500 pulled TU (long story! Applied for Student More card >> DENIED!. Because of 2 year college. Nice rep from Utah center app me for regular More card>> APPROVED! )

Express $250 pulled EX

Victoria S. $500 pulled EX (got 5-7 day message. Card then came in mail for DS)

JCP/GE $200 pulled EQ

Am. Eag. $200 pulled EQ

EQ was 673 and dropped to 643 with 11 inqs.!! TU was 682 and dropped to 672 with 3 inqs.

So far I've only had a $1500 crap1 card that will NEVER give you a CLI. I had 20% uti when discover approved, so I guess they just matched the limit and go from there.

The only reason why I applied is because Im only 19 and want a tough credit history so that I can apply for amex in about 2 years when the inq. fall off. Also, I been thinking about closing maybe 1 or 2 accounts. Any suggestions? Maybe those who are not CLI friendly? Thanks in advance

Thank you. Nice Discover limit you have there. I still shake my head that they automatically deny 2-year college students.

You want to close 1-2 accounts that you just opened? I suggest you start a brand new thread of your own to get more views and suggestions for your situation from the lovely people on this site. I'd also suggest reading the following, Closing Credit Cards.

Nationwide update:

I faxed my tax returns (all 17 pages) to Nationwide on Friday and called them yesterday to make sure they received them okay. The first CSR I reached was very friendly and put me on hold a while to transfer me to the credit dept. She came back and said she couldn't reach anyone and asked if I could call back later. It was about 12:30pm and I wasn't thinking that people would probably be on their lunch break, I'm guessing.

I called back later on and got a fellow who put me on hold. He came back with a message that, yes, they received my tax returns and, just as a reminder, it can take up to 3 weeks to decide on a credit application. So that was that. Now for hardest part...WAITING!

i'm interested to hear how it goes, so be sure to update.

i've decided not to release the tax return info. it's just an added step i'm not excited about completing.

also, we really don't need the NW card, since our CL went from 9k to 31k nearly overnight. and i'm not sure they would look favorably at being the last to approve us for yet another card. cap1 already denied me for too many INQs, but they were the last to see apps.

the main motivation was to reduce our util.. had only two major cards.. one MC 5800/6200 and an AMEX 350/3000, til i got CLI from amex.. now it's 350/5500.

now total util is roughly 6000/31000 so i'm considering it mission accomplished.

check into citi forward and chase freedom, they were the most generous with initial CLs at 4800 and 6000 respectively.

Will do. I did look at the Chase Freedom as well as the Citi Diamond Preferred. I'm done apping for a while though now. When I do app again I'm planning on going for Citi and USAA to start.

I received a letter today from Nationwide that stated I was: DENIED

Reasons:

INCOMPLETE APPLICATION

NO RESPONSE RECEIVED

That's it; how frustrating! I confirmed with them, via phone, that they received my 17-page fax. The man who confirmed it wasn't even from the credit dept. but put me on hold while he went to ask them. Now it's back to square one as I call them tomorrow. I know my tax returns didn't disappear into thin air (scary thought). Although, between then and now I read the LONG Nationwide thread on here and this doesn't seem that surprising. I'm wondering if I should even bother. I applied the first week of November and I've had nothing but headache from them thus far.

I'll update with any more exciting news. It could literally be next year now.
