Question. When you app for a card and the company pulls a report from 2 CRAs, do they usually go with the better looking credit report? Say the company pulls EX and EQ and EX has a paid down balance that hasnt been updated on EQ. Would the company realize this and go with EX?

Seems AMEX does. I applied to them about 1.5 years ago, pulled both my EX and EQ. Maybe you have a thin file (not many accounts), and they want to look at another to see if there's more stuff there, specifically negatives. One of the mods once had two pulled for either AmEx or Discover (can't remember which), because the address on the first report was wrong, and the lender wanted to confirm it with a second report. He was particularly irate because he'd been trying to get the first CRA to stop listing the wrong address.

Nearly all CCC's pull just one, with the exception of dear Cap One. So for those who pull a second one, as described above, they're mainly looking for confirmation that the first report was an accurate picture of the applicant's credit.

In other words, I don't think it's a case of mmm-bwah-ha-ha, let's find the worst report and go with it. But reading the minds of CCC's is just guessing, in the end, although entertaining.
