Go the Citi World Mail Upgrade....Not!

Citi just mailed me a Platinum Select World MC to replace my existing P.S. card. Will activating this card remove the CL from my 3 credit files? I don't use the card because there aren't any perks, but the credit line is five figures and I'd hate to lose that. Thanks for your help!

You can request that they do not convert your card. They seem to be trying to convert any account to a world account (tried on both my dividend and diamond preferred)

Funny you wrote this thread, as Citi is trying to pull a fast one on me also to change my platinium select to a world card, Citi told me my card was mailed out on Novemeber 29 and I was not able to convert , well as to this date no card mailed to me yet, well maybe my card is on its way but I will not activate the card you have as you will lose your credit limit and lose utilization.

I wonder what the benefit is to Citi for converting to a World card, though...I mean...World cards are harder to get...but I wonder what the benefit to Citi is for doing this...

Interchange fees are higher for Visa Signature and World MasterCard products. The merchant pays more to the issuing bank when you use these types of cards.

Really? Wow. Good to know. I always thought Mastercard and Visa were flat fees, I didn't know they were tiered depending on class of card...So basically Gold Mastercards, Platinum Mastercards, and World/World Elite all have different merchant fees? Interesting stuff.

Think there was another thread recently about CITI doing this.

We just got our new Dividend cards (old ones expired), and no mention of conversion. Not even a letter about the CITI the World card.

Just recieved this card in the mail as well yesterday, carsalesmn have you called Citi by chance not to convert, and how it went, Citi is being really pushy about these world cards, I personally do not want this card.

Just received this card in the mail as well yesterday, carsalesmn have you called Citi by chance not to convert, and how it went, Citi is being really pushy about these world cards, I personally do not want this card.

I called to request my Diamond Preferred to not be converted (did the same for Dividend card few months ago) and had to directly ask to speak to a supervisor. Just explained to supervisor I did not want to be converted, and she said she'd submit the request for me. Pretty easy, just have to be persistent and to listen to them try to sell the world benefits (which I had no interest in).
