It's finally here my Amex Costco True Earnings!!!

After 10 business days it just arrived!! I could not be more excited, and even happier that on the card it also states member since 2005 which is when my husband had me as an AU on his cards previously! I am so happy and will take good care of this one.

Happy to be with the Amex Family again... Zync approval in December, and January Amex Costco TE !

Not at all, my CL was actually $1200. I am still 1 year away from my bankruptcy falling off, and 3 baddies from over 3 years ago so very happy I was even approved. I really expected a denial, but happy and I will take the 1200. I will use it wisely PIF when the bill drops, and hope for a cl in 6 months if not sooner. I have heavy usage on my Zync since I was approved for that last month. I am avg so far between 1-2k.

The card came in the typical white envelope they sent me my Zync card in. It is thicker than other cards I have received since it contains so many different documents. I already activated the card, and will be going into a Costco tomorrow to add my husband.

Its really an awesome card to have, i work a costco so i know how hard it is to get, lots of folks get declined.. 3% back on gas, thats the best part considering what gas prices are now..Congrats again

It's a nice card, isn't it?

I wish it weren't so hard to find out what the daily gas prices are. You can go inside (= try to find a parking space, and then fight your way inside), or sit in the lines for the gas pumps and find out when you get there.

At any rate, I'd rather have a cashback card than a points card any day, so thumbs up to AmEx for offering the Costco True Earnings.

Amex TE was my first prime card and ive been really pleased with it. I use mine for for all gas and restaurant/fast food.

They pulled Exp which I do not know what my actual EX score is. Last year in Sept it was 641 but again that was before I did see the bumps on my EQ and TU which were about 60 points lower than what they are now 661 EQ and TU 669 I believe. So I would say it should be somewhere in between???

I do have about 9 inquiries 3 of those are old and about to fall off. My income household income is about $170k which is what I used on the app, and I have been a Costco member for a good 8 years.

Congrats on your new AMEX cards.

With a BK still showing on your credit report, do you believe you were approved because of being an AU on your Husband's account? I read so many posts saying that AMEX is not BK friendly.

If you don't mind me asking, was it chp7 or chp13 BK? Is it showing discharged?

I have a chp 13 due to drop off in about 3 months. My EQ Fico is 709, and I was trying to decide whether to apply now or just wait 3 months for the AMEX Zinc.

With your BK aging off your reports so soon, I think I would wait if I were in your shoes.

OP's experience seems to be somewhat singular - something of a wrinkle in the cosmos. It's a stunning victory of sorts for her, but how that will translate to other folks with BK's, with or without previous Amex AU status, and with or without a lengthy Costco membership, is something of a mystery.

Unless you want to be a guinea pig for the rest of us.

I have a BK reporting, and have been a Costco member for I think 5 years. For me, I'm waiting til BK ages off. No guinea pig experiments for me. The Amex will backdate to the Costco membership date whenever I get accepted, and I'll shoot for that when my CR looks gloriously BK-free.

+1 w/ Beam. What is interesting is that OP said in another post related to her approval Costco TE card that she was an AU on her husbands card that were CO/ and Collections I believe. I know the responsibility falls sqaurely on the account holder but you have to figure AMEX know you were an AU on the account because they back dated her new card to 2005. The approval is fantasic and its got me itching to pull the trigger but I feel this to be a singular experience and attempt at your own risk. I want this same card so bad and I don't have BK but I can't push myself to apply until I'm in the 700's club.

My bankruptcy is actually still showing discharged back 04/2001. It will fall off my reports in 04/2012 so a bit over a year more to go. Do I think being an AU on my husbands accounts helped? Actually no, and although he did PIF when both went to collections I would think they would see that as a bad thing?

They also just let my husband back in December. They approved him for the gold. Like mentioned probably in another post I know Amex looks at income sometimes, and our household is about $170k.

My limit is low compared to others started at $1200, but will treat it right and hopefully get a CLI in a few months. For now I will begin my gardening with my new cars and no more inquiries the rest of the year .

If you have a CH 7 BK from 4/01, the standard is that it ages off after 10 years - which would be 4/2011. Right around the corner!

ETA: Actually, it ages off your credit reports 10 years after the filing date. If you were discharged in 04/01, then you probably filed a few months earlier. So, your BK will age off your reports 10 years after the date you filed.

Wrong date... it actually was 04/01/02 so I guess another year or so .. I still hate to see that on my reports. Darn Medical Bills I tell you!!!

Darn! One more year - but you're sitting pretty as it is.

That's a good lesson for folks - you can do some significant rebuilding even while a BK is still on the reports.
Life goes on after BK....and beautifully.

Trust me, I have learned and considering that this happen almost 9 years ago and I was in my early 20's I have learned much along the way. I just wish I would of started on rebuilding much earlier than what I did. I got late in the game, and even then did a few hiccup I shouldn't of. Oh well... on the right track now, and thanks to these boards I am in a much better place than I was 2 years ago. Hey I cannot complain I am finally with Ames on my own and really take credit seriously which is what counts .

For what it's worth - my Amex True Earnings card was opened in 2/06 with a limit of $1,100. Amex increased the limit automatically to $5,000 about 18 months later. I requested an increase to $7,500 18 months ago and just recently increased the limit to $15,000.

Treat it well, never be late and it will grow with you. Congrats on the card!
