Still Denied for Blue Cash.

Im a bit peeved by this. Been a zync member since august. Applied for blue cash in October and early December, got rejected. Totally understandable because I was still a new amex member. Applied 5 minutes ago, got denied right away. What am i doing wrong. I waited and have been using my card and also enrolled in autopay so i wont have to worry about missed payments. The december denial listed these reasons

The length of time you have been a customer with American Express is too short.

The number of months that you have been on file with a consumer credit reporting agency is too short.

The number of creditors who have reviewed your credit report.

but to my surprise, todays denial had more reasons, which is odd cause ive been doing everything to get my credit up. (btw, when i got accepted for zync. i already had a pretty high score)

The number of creditors who have reviewed your credit report.

average of your payments in relation to the etc etc? are they saying that im late on payments and thats a reason that my score is up? cause thats BS cause i enrolled in autopay just for that reason.

should i call in and talk to a real person or is this hopeless.

Yes, call the backdoor number to plead your case. I got approved through the backdoor method.

There are backdoor numbers for AMEX listed on this website . An underwriter needs to review your application.

thanks DI. just got my report. Now just gotta wait till tomorrow to call.

My score is 717 which went down sloghtly because I have 6 hard inquires. 4 of them coming from stupid amex for that one card. do you think if i calmly explain that those inquires are from them denying me the blue cash card, they'll reconsider? cause honestly, this is the only card i want. which leads me to my next question, if i ever do get approved for blue cash. could i close my zync card down without it hurting my score/report? i dont find paying the 25 a year worth it. mainly cause i dont take advantage of it

How long is your credit history. What other accounts do you have? Any Baddies?

slightly* not sloghtly hahha.

but no, just a visa debit card, a mastercard, and my zync. no bad accounts. my oldest is 1.9 years i think.

the negative factors experian lists are

i have a short length of credit history

i have a low credit score

you have too many recent hard inquires (from one freaking company for the same card. just freaking accept me geez)

my positives are

i pay my bills on time

i have no balance to limit ratio

i have no open installment loans

i have no public records

none of my accounts have ever been listed as negative

i guess its the hard inquires that hurt the most. but like i said, i should be set once i get the blue cash card. i really dont want anything else. do my chances look good, or am i still SOL even if i call the back door number.

IMO, what is hurting you with amex is that you don't have established history with other lenders. Though you can call for reconsideration, but I don't really think amex will give you blue cash at this point. I would take a CU card at this time and a store card (GEMB/JCP is good for starters, they grow to abt 1.5k very fast improving your util). Grow their CLs and reconsider amex blue cash about an year from now, no way before that.

You've been an Amex member for six months. That's short. It might seem a long time to you as you're waiting to be approved for a new product. However, in the grand scheme of things, it's super short. Think of those people who've had their cards for years or even decades.

Try the backdoor, and if you have no success, just give it a year, pay your bills on time. I bet you'll be instantly approved then. I don't understand why people are in such a rush. I know the fever, but you need to take it slowly. One year in the grand scheme of things is nothing in my opinion. Good luck!

Have you tried the AMEX pre-select card offer site in the past , just to see if any type of card offer came up for you? Did you app cold for the Zync card? If not, you may be able to try now, but since you are a AMEX cardholder the pre-select card offer site may be tricky to find out if any offers exist. Good Luck in callling for a reconsideration.

i must be stupid. i called 8008742717 and i get getting customer service reps. i asked to speak to a underwriter or at least a human who has the ability to reconsider my application but they said i need to call 18773993083 (the new card department or something on those lines) and ask to resubmit my application. this doesn't give me a chance to defend my case. What am i doing wrong here? i call the 800 number, press 1 for current customers (the other options have nothing to do with me) and it leads me to regular reps that can't do anything with my account except pull it up.

you usually can't talk to underwriting... it's a very simple process as they told you, you ask to have it reviewed again and then you either get an e-mail that says congratulations or you get a denial again.

so whats the point of calling the "back door" number. all they do is transfer me to the 1877 number.

i just called again right now. i told them that a friend supplied me with this number so i can plead my case and get my decision reconsidered. the person on the phone said they couldn't do anything for card decisions and that i would have to call the 1877 number (when i did call the 1877 number, all they promised was they would resubmit my app. but whats the point, wouldn't i get denied again?).

so what exactly is the point of the 800 number? its not taking me " past frontline CSR's directly Credit Analysts / Credit Departments / Account Managers / Account Specialists (different lenders call 'em different things." Its actually taking me to more outsourced cs reps who can't help.
