Good choice! I fail to see why people pay annual fees for charge cards!

Thank you, and this card will really grow with me, which is great! I hear Chase likes to auto CLI this account a lot as well, which is great news!

I still have a burning desire to get this BB card off of program B, so I've decided to write them a letter:

To Whom it May Concern,

I am writing to you in regards to a very disappointing outcome of a credit card application I’ve completed with HSBC, in hopes that someone with executive power can assist me in becoming a satisfied customer. I shop at best buy extremely often, and have a tremendous interest in the financing offers at Best Buy. I currently have four Bank Cards open, listed below:

-BankAmericard Cash Rewards Visa: $2,500

-Citi Platinum Select Dividend MasterCard: $2,200

-Discover More Card: $1,500

-Chase Amazon Visa: $3,000

When I was informed that I was placed in the fixed Program B account with a $600 limit (with a very large household income), I was, to say the least, extremely disappointed, as there’s not much that can be purchased/financed at Best Buy with a $600 limit. I decided at this point to close the account, disgusted. Upon speaking to credit analysts at HSBC, (whom were all extremely friendly, and cultivated my desire to continue a relationship with HSBC), I was told no one can do anything for me, not even managers. While I realize computer algorithms are used to minimize risk introduced in human review, I believe my case to be rather extraordinary.

Upon speaking to a very friendly manager on the phone, I was told that my decline to enter Program A was because “limited use of revolving credit”. When I use my cards, I pay the majority, but not the complete balance, before the monthly statement. Once that statement cuts, I then pay the remainder of the balance. This is to show low utilization, and also to avoid ever having to pay interest. This should, above all else, demonstrate responsibility. Last month I ran $1,700 through my Bank of America card, so I feel as though I can manage credit very well, and therefore I should be able to be on a program that allows for Credit Line Increases in the future (I don’t see why any account should have this as a permanent restriction).

I originally had intended to contact Best Buy regarding this matter, as they have essentially lost business because of HSBC, but upon closer consideration, I felt as though all parties may be better served if HSBC was willing to, at the executive level, work with me to come to terms that are matched to my credit profile. As of writing this letter, my Equifax FICO score is 745, and my TransUnion FICO score is 762. (From myFICO/Fair Isaac). My hope is that someone can assist me in starting my credit line to match at least my lowest line ($1,500), and also to put me on program A with HSBC/Best Buy, so that a mutually beneficial business relationship can grow between all three parties involved.

Thank You,
smc733

Why convert to Freedom? Amazon Visa and Freedom both have specific advantages, but if you shop frequently at Amazon, you can rack up points with Amazon Visa - 3 for every dollar spent. Also, 2 pts. at restaurants and 1 everywhere else. It's a great card! Make it your go-to card.

Congratulations on your approval. I applied today and was instantly approved for 4k. BTW looking at your credit card portfolio, you and I have similar cards. Except I have a charge card and Dillard's Amex. I will be calling American Express to cancel my charge card by the end of the month-amazon is going to replace it.

Again Congrats!

Congrats on the approval! An Amazon card, whether store or Visa, will be on my credit reports one of these days I was shot down for a store card back in Dec. I'm tempted to go for it again at the end of the year... just in time for some Black Friday deals!

Congrats! arguably Chase's best rewards card.

Hadn't heard too much about or received an increase with this card, so good to hear, but if requested always an HP.

Yep! I may keep it as is without ever converting, for the rewards. Will be used for exclusively all my online/cyclical billing.

Was not expecting $3k, and word is that often your "temporary line" gets upped when the card is received.

I have an Amex CO that should fall off this month, and a Chase CO that should fall off in April. That, coupled with the payment of my CC balances (I'm currently at about 28%, but I will pay down to less than 9%) should afford me a nice score increase. Would Chase let me back in, or do they have longer memory than my reports do?

eta: Both were settled for less than owed, and they are my last two baddies.

Your scores should recover nicely, but I'm not sure if they keep records on COs.

Really thinking of replacing my BankAmericard's position in my wallet with this. I suppose my Bank's CC (BofA could be my keep at home safety card), and my day-to-day big spenders could be from other banks. (Also, BofA tells me they can never CLI me above $2,500 until I graduate)

Be sure to include your account #.

Also, as mentioned, I might modify the part about "very large household income" to something more along the lines of "I believe my income supports a substantially larger credit limit."

Perhaps even to show your usage you could include a statement of your "go to" cards usage in the letter, with ALL IDENTIFYING INFO blacked out. Or maybe not even that is a good idea.

Andy, you probably have the Visa Signature version of the store card, (13.24% APR?), in which case that won't report a limit. Mine is the platinum since the CL is under $5k, which came with an 18.24% as opposed to the worse 21.24 for less qualified applicants, so I guess yay for me.

In other news, BofA backdoor last night at around 10PM, BOOM $2,500 -> $3,500!

As for the HSBC letter, I did send it, but I reworded the household income to "(with a sufficient household income)" Hopefully I'll recieve contact back and maybe they'll do something.

They swear on the phone that program B accounts are reviewed every 3 months for conversion to program A, and TheCreditKid started at 800 and went to 1200, so its very likely perhaps his BB card was a convert (Program A doesn't go lower than $1,000). I'll use the card and see what happens.
