So since I still haven't heard from Amex, after I do get the inevitable denial, I am considering this card instead.

Oldest Account: 29 Years 3 Months

AAoA 3 years

Util 1%

About 3 inquiries in past 6 months on Equfiax, 5 on TU,

8 in Past 12 on EQ, 11 on TU

Is this worth going for or will it be a denial?

Hello fellow poster, I am just curious how you can have a practically 30 year old account and seek a Student card? Why not apply for the standard?

I'm an Authorized user on an account opened in 1981.

I know for sure Discover is too picky to give me the regular More card, and I think my inquiries will prevent me from getting the Student Card, which is why I'm apprehensive to apply for it.

Well, there's a chance!

Got the 5-7 days message, which from what I understand is good with Discover. Last 2 times I applied, I got an instant denial, so we'll see.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. I have a good feeling about your application. I got approved last month for "More" with 10 inquires, a much lower fico than yours, and my oldest account is 6.4 yrs old. Your CR is much more attractive than mine, therefore, I don't forsee an issue with your approval. Best of luck

Thank you, I'll be calling them this morning, as their approval system was down! (Another good sign), plus, on every app, (except BofA), I've had to verify my address.

PS. Are you/were you a student in Massachusetts?

Apologies for the thread necro, but I have recently received an offer for a student card from Discover too even though I'm not a student. May I ask, when you filled out it, what did you put in for the college info, and did Discover do any sort of verification?

They do verify your school info and if you are not at a university then do not bother applying because its a flatout denial. They wouldnt approve me because I was attending a 2 year school for my associates and plan on transferring to a 4 year university after I receive my associates. Its really stupid

I am curious, what's your AAoA excluding the AU account? This may be a reason behind a few denials you got as not all banks count AU account while evaluating your app.
