Try researching on "whogavemecredit". You can sort by State, Card, Score, etc. It's really handy because users go on there and post what their scores are, who they apped, what their CL was (if approved), what interest rate they got, and many of them say what CRA was pulled.

Note that Hooters made the list of top 10 worst cards recently. Also note that Barclay's is most inquiry sensitive.

Florida Who gave me credit

Scroll down for most current app info.

Good luck.

And, what do you consider to be a "good card"? Are you looking for a certain type of reward? Are you looking at both annual fee & non-annual fee cards? Are you looking for a particular minimum credit line? How are you going to use the card: a) always PIF, b) always carry a balance, c) balance transfer, d) mostly PIF, sometimes carry a balance, etc...?

These are just some of the questions that you need to consider before applying for a credit product. It also appears that you may have a lot of newish credit. That's an important detail for some lenders. Are you carrying balances? What is your current utilization? That's a biggie for most lenders. The other thing you mentioned was "household income"-- is that the combined income of you, and your spouse? If you were asked to provide proof of income, would you have a problem with verification?

It's important to not just app indiscriminately. You have to understand the requirements of the lender that you're going after (as much as we can, at any given time), and make sure that you're on solid footing with their usual approval requirements. You can't just rely solely on, "who pulls TU", because a) it's not always guaranteed that they're going to pull TU, b) it's not always guaranteed that they're *only* going to pull TU, and c) The score isn't usually what matters most. It's the content of your reports.

I can understand why you'd be in a hurry to get rid of high-fee cards, such a FP. If you're not carrying balances on this one and other cards, you don't actually have a replacement lined up before closing it. You can just close it. I think that you're better off, and you'll have better choices if you hold off for a bit, and work on that collection. You don't want to miss out on a card that might be perfect for you, and your needs, because you've temporarily excluded the possibility because of which CRA they pull. You also don't want to end up getting "any" card, just because they do pull TU. And, you also risk closure if they open an account for you, and then soft your other reports.

My opinion, just wait for a bit. Work on getting the collection off, make sure that your utilization is below 9%, and that your youngest card is at least 1 year old, and then start looking around for a card that will work exactly the way you want it to. I think that you'd find many more available options, and a higher chance of approval.

Good luck!

You seem very smart at what you are saying. I do seem to be rushing a little bit and i dont know why. lol.. But one reason is that my first premier (AF of $50 due 4/10/2011) and capital one AF $49 due 04/25/2011. Dont want to pay these again. I am carrying balances on both of these cards. FP is at 100.00 and cap 1 is at 500.00. Wanna do balance transfer and cancel these 2 evil cards. Credit limit isnt too important to me just want a card that has no AF and can GROW over time with me. I already apped with barclays is there any backdoor number i can atleast give the recon a shot tomorrow? Thanks for anyones insight to my dilema. This is what credit Karma says:

Report Card details

B

Open Credit Card Utilization22%

Credit card utilization is defined as the total credit card debt you have divided by the total available credit on your credit cards.

7 inquiries on TU is not helping your cause at all, and your score isn't high enough for discover with your history (short, small credit lines from sub-prime lenders).

OOC, how do you have $170k in debt... mortgage?

Anyways, you need to get your reports cleaned up, wait for these hard pulls to fall off, get your util under 10%, and then apply with a credit union.

I would attempt one of the Barclay's card that would suit you, this bank does seem good on reconsiderations too if you are diened. I would not attempt Discover right now, as this bank can pull any report, and Discover is very conservative, Good Luck
