Mini App Spree

I finally got my Score Watch Update and my score went up to 690 after paying off my cards. Cap1 still shows the old balance, not sure when it reports. Anyhow, I knew I was going to do an app spree after sitting tight for a year. The 2 cards I wanted was The Discover More and the Citi AAdvantage. After getting advice here I decided to wait on the Citi card but I went ahead and applied for the Discover. I applied online and was instantly approved. I got a note that I had to call to verify some info, and they just asked me to verbally confirm my income. Once I did, he told me my CL was $2,000. Sweet.

After my success with Discover I decided what the heck and applied for the Citi AA card yesterday. Applied online. Did not get instantly approved or declined, got another note to call to verify information. I called, was asked about my income, address and other small items. Was put on hold another 5 min. They came back on, asked me a couple of more questions, put back on hold for another 5 min. When she got back on she apologized for all the holds. She said they still needed to verify some information but I should know by Thursday of next week. She gave ma a number to call if I wanted to check the status in a couple of days. I'm not sure if that is good or bad, but I have read that they either give you a 7-10 day or a 30 day answer,. From what I understand, it is a better sign to have them tell you to expect an answer in 7 days. I will update as soon as I know.

BTW, I am in TX and Citi pulled TU and Discover pulled EQ.

Congratulations on your Discover approval. That's nice CL to start with.

Cross your fingers ~ hope you are going to get Citi cc also. Let us know the result.

Thank you both! Discover actually asked me if that limit was enough. I didn't want to push my luck and grabbed what was offered.

As far as the Citi AA card, I received an email yesterday

:Why we're writing you Thank you for applying for the Citi(R) Platinum Select(R) / AAdvantage(R) Visa(R) Signature account. We are unable to verify some of the required credit information. To continue processing your application, please provide the following documentation: A copy of ONE of the following for EACH income source you listed on your application:

o Most recent pay statement clearly showing your name, complete Social Security Number, and the date (within 30 days)

o Most recent W-2 form(s)

o A dated letter, on Company letterhead, stating employer name, your name and address, signed by a personnel office manager

If you are SELF-EMPLOYED OR RETIRED - send a copy of ONE of the following confirming the income stated on your application: o A letter from your broker, CPA, or personal banker

o Social Security Income Verificatio

n o A copy of your federal tax return for the most recently completed tax year. The tax return must include your signature and all supporting schedules.

So, I sent in a copy of my latest paystub. I get paid a base salary and commission and my paystub I sent was 3, 000 less than the 47K I put on the original app. I get my commissions on a separate date (15th of every month) and get a different paystub..or statement if you will for it. Along with my regular paystub, I sent the March commission statement, even though it was smalll. I also included a letter stating what I sent to them as well as thanking them for the consideration. It's out of my hand now I guess.

It seems to me that all they want is proof of your income, and it sounds like you provided them with adequate proof. I'm guessing once they receive that info, you will be approved.

I'm not trying to get your hopes up, but to me it's looking good for you.

Hi InDallas,

Congratulations on getting that Discover card. It's the card I use the most by far.

As a fellow Texan though may I ask a favor of you? In a long post like one of yours could you break it up into several paragraphs? A single, monolithic block of letters and words makes it very hard to read and some folks will go right past it because of that and in doing so might miss out on something that will help them or they won't give a suggestion that might help you or others.

Congrats on the Discover, and good luck on the Citi. Since they're asking for income verification, it seems to me like you're heading towards an approval. Keep us posted!
