Does Discover match your highest CL?

Thinking of applying for it in a month. I read alot on this forum that they match your highest limit. Now the question is, do they always match your highest CL or is it a rare thingy?

They definitely did not match mine. My credit lines were between $18,100 and $20,000 - Discover gave me $9600.

Stands true for me too.

Lines from $2,200 to $25,000 and they gave me $1500...

Oh well, I am working that card hard and PIF each week - got to love online bill pay.

One day, maybe they will bump me to $1750 - LOL!!!!

They matched my highest credit line. I have a BankAmericard Cash Back card at $2,500 and was approved for a Discover More of $2,500 last week.

just a coindence. they started me with $2500. i'm at $4600 now.

Discover is awesome! They didn't match my highest limit, they Smashed it! My highest credit card limit was $1200 prior to Discover approving me for a Discover More card with a whopping $3500 credit limit.

They gave me $5000 a month ago, my highest yet.. pulled TU in WA State with 724 FICO no baddies, cards range from 500 - 1200 for myself.

My highest limit was $25,000, along with several other lines at $23,000, $20,000, $17,500, and working their way down from there, at the time I applied with Discover.

They approved me for $7,000. Not anywhere near my highest limit, however, not anything for me to complain about. I don't plan to charge that much a month anyway, so it still meets my needs.

ifinet, I think it's a "rare thingy" for them to match another card's CL.

Discover is very conservative with initial credit lines, IMO. However, they're more than generous when it comes to CLIs if they see good usage and good payments on the card.

Use it to the max, pay it off, rinse and repeat. Pretty soon, the CL will be right where you'd expect it to be. It worked for me.

It's just one more YMMV in my experience.

I opened my Discover in 2003 (I don't recall the initial CL) and for the first 6 years or so I would get auto CLI's every year for $1,000 to $1,300. However I haven't gotten one in over 2 years. There might be some maximum level of auto CLI's but I have no way of knowing.

I put right at $30,000 through my card last year and a little over $12,000 so far in 2011 but I don't pay interest so maybe they are punishing me for that?
