Does Amex overnight cards for existing cardmembers?

I applied for the Starwood card on April 12th. I didn't ask for the application to be expedited, but got a message that the application would be expedited and I should have the card in 2-3 days. While I still haven't received it, that appears to be because my concierge desk lost the card. According to Amex, they delivered it on the 13th.

Not sure if that is standard practice or if they were showing me a little extra love, but I very much like Amex's customer service. Now if I can just get my building concierge to stop losing my packages.

Haha. I do, at Christmas. Are Easter tips required now? I can't keep pace with tipping inflation.

To answer your question, yes they will overnight new cards for both existing and new members when requested. They've done this for me on a couple different occasions.

What was your CL approval?

I don't like paying AF...but this card is on my radar in the future.

I was approved for $19,600. I was shocked.

My current highest CL on an open CC is only $2500 so I wasn't expecting a high limit. I have a closed account that had a CL of $10K. That was my highest. I have had the PR Gold card since October and typically run $5K/month through it, so I think that influenced my CL. I reported $230K for HHI on the application.

that's is what they work for is tips when i go visit my parents they tip everyone in there building everyday doorman, drivers, concierge

That's insane. I give a tip during the holiday season to all of the building staff for my condo building. Additionally, if I ask for service beyond their everyday routine, for example, if I ask the building maintenance staff to help me fix something in my unit, I pay them for their assistance. But I certainly don't tip them everyday, and I've never heard that it is customary to do so.

Thanks! It's also funny because I had just started a thread a couple weeks ago to the effect that I have only ever had CLs in increments of $500 and wondering why I see so many other people with strange limits (at least strange in my experience). Well, I've now got my first non-$500 increment limit. I'll take it.

Thanks. When you apply, make sure you check around before doing so. Right now, applying through Amex's site offers you only 10K bonus points. But if you apply through spg.com, you get 10K bonus points plus an additional 15K points if you spend $15K in 6 months. I've heard that they once offered a 30K bonus on sign-up, but the 10K/15K bonus seems to be a frequent offering. Basically, just make sure you search around before applying directly through Amex's site. Seems like the best bonus offers are usually found elsewhere.

I think you got this high amount becasue of your HHI. I assume that someone's income might come into play when getting a credit limit. I might be wrong but i bet it plays a big role.

I know I applied for a Green Card in August 2010 as a brand new customer. After I learned a lot more I realized the PR Gold would better suit me and bit the bullet for another hard inquiry. Approved for that (on a Sunday or Monday) and they said I should have it by the end of the week. I was in no rush but when I got home a day or two later from work, there was a Next Day Air envelope for me. I had no clue what it was but when I opened it it was my PR Gold Card. AmEx definitely knows how to take care of a customer.

What I really appreciate about this is, most companies treat new people better and don't give a care about old customers. It seems to be the opposite for Amex.

I actually applied for the Zync card and got approved. I got an email today from Amex giving me a congrats message. his is my first AMEX. I called customer service right after receiving the email. The rep told me that the card had been sent today and that I should receive it in 4-7 days.

I asked the rep very nicely if I could get it shipped to me over night. She put me on hold for a few seconds and later told me that I should be receiving my card tomorow in the morning. Not bad!

Anyone will overnight a card upon request, but it's interesting they did it without you prompting. One time I lost a BofA card while in Asia, and even they overnighted a new card from Singapore.

Yes, my question perhaps wasn't very clear. What surprised me was the fact that the app was processed and the card was overnighted without me asking for it to be expedited.

Also, apologies were given to the concierge desk last night. The package was buried in a pile of papers on our desk. My fiancee picked it up and forgot about it. I ribbed her a bit about it last night as I have been asking her if I received anything for the past two weeks. But she was probably wrestling our with our son when she picked up the mail, so I won't give her too much grief over it.
