Some board members think that Amex has the same requirements for all their charge cards.

My suggestion is to go with Premier Rewards Gold (it has a 10,000 Membership Rewards bonus for opening and it's $175 annual fee is waived for the first year), and when it's time to re-up next year I suggest PCing down to Zync (unless you're spending more than $30K a year -- where they have a bonus -- or if you're wedded to the full-fledged Membership Rewards program).

Looking for a new card that has no pre set spending limit for purposes of new job in the consulting field. I would prefer to go with AMEX gold as I have been getting pre-screening offers from them for the past few months, but have been working hard at getting my score in the 700's. Home owner with good standings with mortgage, about 40% spending on existing credit cards, currently have two retail and one cap one card. 680 and 670 with EQ and TU. Thoughts on AMEX gold approval for rewards program or equivalent AMEX card with no pre set spending for those unknown business expenses?

Thanks.

Amex normally checks EX but have been known to check all 3 bureaus if your EX is about 670-680 you should stand a good chance if you can lower your utl you will look better to them. They don't like unpaid COs and collections. If you are relatively clean I would say go for it .

Thanks for the reply. Do you know of a similar good rewards program with no preset spending from them? Green, Zync, etc.. that may be easier for now then "upgrade" later?

I can lower my utilization by about 20% quickly if gold is my best optioin but want to look at all optioins.

Thanks.

I think Zync is easier to obtain, me personally I like the Premier rewards Gold what I suggest is go to AMEX site you can compare cards and see if the reward structure fits your business and your lifestyle.
