Someone pinch me... I must be dreaming!

My morning started off horrible. I was stuck in traffic for 2 hours on my way to work. I walk into the office and I get lectured by my boss about punctuality. I poor a cup of coffee for myself and end up spilling it all over my lap. I get to my cubicle and my computer is off (I usually keep it on all the time) and now have to sit there for like 5 minutes because my work computer is pre-historic and takes forever to boot up.

So now I'm at my desk, steaming with rage, not knowing how I'm ever going to cooldown enough to start working.

I open up my Firefox browser and it asks me if I want to load my previous session (saved browsing session).

It goes to a Citi AAdvantage Visa Signature application page that I was looking at the other day.

I say what the hell, I'm going to apply and if I get turned down, I'm already pissed off enough that there would be no possible way that I can get any more upset over an inquiry.

So the application says "Your application requires further review, please call....".

I'm thinking @#%&*#%!#&*&!!!!

I decide to call because I'm curious as to what the reasons for denial were.

CSR asks me some indenitiy questions and then puts me on hold and comes back and says....

"Congratulations, you are approved with a credit line of $7,500!"

Someone slap me because I must be dreaming.

I'm very surprised because they pulled my EX which is in the mid 600's (FAKO) with 3 inquiries and 2 baddies (A 4 year old PAID GEMB C/O and believe it or not a 5 year old PAID CITI C/O). I though I was blacklisted.

And to top it off, the CSR told me that I managed to resurrect from the dead a 75,000 mileage points signup bonus after spending $1500, because I applied through a supposed expired promotional link.

*UPDATE*

Wow wow wow. CSR told me that they pulled EX, but I just pulled my reports via Credit Secure, and there was no new inquiry under EX, but I did notice that my TU FAKO had gone up to 800!

I just checked to see what changed, and low and behold, I see an inquiry from Citi

Citi almost exclusively pulls EX here in California, so that was a big surprise, especially since they approved me because my TU is worse than my EX.

So out of curiosity to see what my real FICO was, I purchased a new score here on myfico.com and wait for it....

HOLY @#$^^#$!!!!!

And it just hit me right now, I had sent out a Jack Attack letter about a month ago to TU disputing ALL my baddies.

Every single one of them were either updated to positive or deleted and my score went from 612 to 766!

I completely forgot about that letter.

Someone up there is watching out for me because my TU is now spotless, with a score in the high 700's and CITI approved me because they decided to pull TU.

Today is going to be a GOOD day!

Major Congrats!!

That's the card I want and I'm a bit scared to hit the app as I really want the card and don't want to get a denial.

My EX (PSECU) is currently at 656 (I'm sure my accounts aren't showing 9% util yet I paid them down to), but my EQ is 683 and my TU is 679. I have about 2 inq one almost a year and one 6 months on each of my reports.

I have a few Citi banking accounts and use their AA debt card to pay for everything, usually totalling over 4k a month.

After hearing your story, I am so inclined to apply but I will probably wait until July. Hopefully this promo is still around

The inquiry will post, it generally takes up to 24 hours to show up on EX, and a week on EQ/TU.

The inquiry posted on TU immediately. That's what they pulled.

I was so inspired that I tried to apply. However I got this message: "Thank you. We have received your application and further processing is required at this time. We will contact you within a week via email regarding our decision. Thank you for requesting a Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® MasterCard®." I doubt I will get approved though because I just got denied for a Discover More. But nonetheless, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

My mistake. New accounts usually take those quoted amount of times AFTER the company has reported them to show up. IE. Amex reports to all three. EX has it that night, EQ and TU have a delay (I've seen this myself several times).
