AMEX FAMILY- Just curious, how much do YOU put through your AMEX cards per month?

Just was curious as to how much other AMEX card holders put through their cards per month to keep Amex happy-I've read on this Forum here and there that there is actually a certain spending pattern/amount that is more favourable-myself, I've always used my cards heavily about 3 times a year(during holidays ) and for groceries/dining out-then I can go for months with spending next to nothing-seems like they know my spending patterns so maybe that's why I can go for 3/4mnths with little or no activity-I probably average 2.5k/3k per card/per year.

I put about $2000.00 per month personal and Busniess...was spending a lot more when I was on the road more...they like it when you spend and pay on time..Been a member for over 20 years with no problems

I have a stupid CL of $2200 on my Amex Blue Cash. I max out the card every month and pay it in full everymonth. They refuse to give me a CLI. I've had the card for 4 years now.

About $40 a month through Gold Card, and whatever my Hulu subscription is through my Blue. They are being punished for denying my CLI request after my Blue was open for 6 months. Boo.

Before aforementioned punishment, I was putting around $400 a month on my Gold, and $700 a month on my Blue.

aha! now that you have your citi AA card, the opportunity to change this awaits you. just simply start using your citi aa card instead of your blue cash, thus suddenly stopping any activity on your card. THEY WILL GET THE MESSAGE!

i say this to you because you have had this card for 4 years now. they ought to cli you by now.

I don't think it's that important to put a lot of money through a card with Amex, especially on second or more cards with them:

Blue Cash - $1,800-$2,000
Premiere Rewards Gold - $0 (don't worry, I'm not paying an annual fee)
Blue Cash Everyday - $0
Hilton HHonors - $0

For DW:

Zync - $100-$200
Blue - $100-$200

Blue Cash was my primary card for a few months in 2008 until I got the Freedom card. Then I paid the AMEX CreditSecure monthly fee on it for a year or so until I cancelled that. Now it never sees a dime.

HHonors gets all my vacation spending. About $2k-$3k 3 or 4 times a year. It also sees business travel on occasion.

$7000/month on PR Gold.

Half work half personal. Use it for everything but Wal-Mart. No more forgetting the cable or cell bill, so many fewer bills to pay each month.

It seems I don't have the kind of money some ppl have around here, but I've had my AmEx Blue Cash 1 month and have run 800 thru it and PIF 1 week before the due date.

ZYNC - $5 per months. Yes $5 because it is not my main card. Only get ZYNC so I have a better chance of getting AMEX BCE at Jan 2012.

it is not really how much you use it but where you use it..do not use amex at low cost retailers like Walmart, etc. Amex keeps track of that and for them is a sign you are in trouble financially and they will close your account or lower your limit.

Why would Amex punish someone for shopping at WalMart when they feature the WalMart logo on their site? I've used Amex at WalMart since I've gotten it without any trouble.

+1. I use the card everywhere it is accepted. I don't buy any of the rumors that Amex doesn't want you to use your card at places like Walmart, McDonald's, etc. It makes no sense. They earn money for every transaction.
