WOW! I bit the bullet today and applied for a Capital One card while trying to rebuild some credit issues from 2009 and was approved for a $500 credit line and 0% APR until February 2012!!!

I totally did not expect that. Does anyone know what Cap 1 pulls? TU EQF or EXP???

Congrats! I think that they offer one of the better rebuilder cards out there. Which one did you get? If it's the cash rewards card, please see the thread below about activating special bonus cash offers.

Capitol One is a good one if youre trying to build credit and are having trouble getting an unsecured card elsewhere.

They gave me a no frills card when my credit score was still pretty low and I had no established credit in good standing at all.

Course, the limit was pretty low then. But since then theyve raised it to $4500, which is more than enough for me given that we arent big spenders.

Congrats!!!!

I've had a CAP 1 card for 8 months now. One thing I like about CAP 1 is that they allow you to change your due date if needs be. And I did it right online. So if the due date they establish for you is not convenient, then you have 4-5 other options. That's a perk when your trying to balance payment dates with your PAY DATE. They pulled all 3 Credit Reports for me. I live in NY.

Capital One has earned the reputation that they currently have by being one of the more predatory credit card companies over several decades. I give them their due for helping me to rebuild, but I have no misconceptions that they have altruistic intentions for the credit-challenged. They hope and pray that you will default because that's where the real juicy money is.

As Mustanglvr2006 wrote so succinctly....just sayin...

EDIT: Let me explain a little more, I think their CSR's are rude, and after a full year with them perfect pymt history, ran tons of $$ thru the CC and PIF every month, credit score went up over 200 points since opening the card (have seen many soft pulls from them, most recent as 5/30/11 and will not raise a 500CL??? So yeah I do expect a little more from a starter card.

As FicoFox said, I too give them their due for helping me rebuild, but come on give me a sign you want to keep my business.
