that brings me to the site showing all american express cards, no where asking me my information about pre-approvals? am i missing something

Hi Creditaddict, this happens to me also I believe if you are already a cardholder with american express and there are no offers presently that page will just pop up with your current card you hold on the top rightside of the page. This happens to me when I try the pre-select site

I didn't get any offers when I used the pre-approval site, but I went ahead and applied for an AMEX Blue last week. The app was approved with a 12K limit (backdated 1989) .

Last night, I tried the pre-approval site and was congratulated for being pre-qualified for the green and gold cards. Luckily, I am going to wait because the timing isn't right. What were your results?

This url asks for your ss# to identify qualifying cards and it clearly says that it "may" pull your CR -- is this true? Certainly all of these people wouldn't check pre-approvals on this site if they are getting hard inquiries, right?

This is the link I have. It does NOT pull a CB, it simply sees if there are any offers in their database. Click Not A Cardmember (does NOT work if you ARE a cardmember. The link for pre-approvals for cardmembers is different!)

I don't think you can solely rely on the pre-approval site. There are a few ppl I know who gotten approved when applying without getting pre-approval letters or being pre-approved at their website. But than again, I know ppl who was declined after being pre-approved so.....

Right. The pre-approval site isnt the be all end all for Amex. I would bet most poeple who apply do just that..apply. But the pre-approval site is nice if youre not a customer and want to see if Amex has something for you. But as you said, its for pre-approvals ONLY. Whether or not you have one doesnt mean you wont get approved if you apply.
