So I set up somewhat thick credit profile w/ cc's so I can have a solid AAOA if and when I choose to add/replace CC's.

What gardening tips can you offer for a first timer?

Don't apply for any more credit... at all... O_o

Edit: Yes... don't app even if you really... REALLY... want to, and even if the offer is really good.

Keep it clean!!

Pay On Time ... Don't be Late ...
Charge ONLY you can PIF by the due date or closing date.
If you have ONLY one card ... keep its reporting balance within 1%~5% (may be up to 7%) util.
If you have multiple ccs ... keep the balance on the one or few of ccs with the balance between 1%~5% (may be up to 7%) util, and rest of ccs statement balance should be zero.
