Chase Auto CLI "Use it Hard"

I've seen a lot of people say to use your card hard if you want an auto CLI from Chase. Does that mean to have a high balance (close to your CL) report every month or is it sufficient to get close to your CL and then pay it off before your statement cuts?

This should be sufficient...its the heavy usage that generally counts for a lot with Chase in particular FWIU... no need to skew UTI unecessarily.

I was told by Chase that ever since the credit crunch, they do not do Auto CLI anymore.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong and they have received one since.

My SO got his Freedom in Sept of 2010 (I got mine in October of 2010). His was issued at $2,000 limit (mine at $3,000).

I use mine SIGNIFICANTLY more than he does, mine still sits at $3,000. HIs, on the other hand, has gotten TWO auto-CLIs, once to $2,300, and most recently to $2,800.

So they are still doing CLI's.

Got an auto CLI on my Sapphire Preferred from 8K to 15.5K 6 weeks ago. Was suprised since they had given me a Chase AARP Visa with an 8K limit in February.

Aside: Have to laugh. Came back from my self imposed exile to find out that I am a "New Contributor" after posting (albeit sporadically) for nearly 3 years
