Hi all, new to the forum. I recently got the Amex blue cash in February with a 5k limit. Since then I have ran 25k in purchases thru this card. I have to make multiple payments throughout the month to keep utilization down,I was pondering asking for a cli. My question is, Is it better to call in and ask or do it from the website? Secondly, typically what' s the rule on cli's? Meaning what's a decent amount I should be request? I was thinking of asking for 15k.Any thoughts?Only other card I have is a Visa from my CU with a $7500 limit, no rewards but great rate 5.0%. Any input or advice will be appreciated. Thanks..

If you're not afraid of an Amex financial review, you have a decent income and good credit, ask for whatever you think you want/need.

I ask for CLIs online with Amex and normally get an instant decision. Amex will counteroffer if you ask for too much.

you are allowed one cli 2 months after you open. i don't know if there is a certian time frame that you have to make the request; but after you make this initial request, you MUST wait a full 6 months. it sounds that you have stellar credit. most people that open an amex blue cash typically start of with 2k. if you started out with 5k and have already pushed 25k through the card, if i were you i would call right now, and ask to go to 15k.

I wouldn't worry asking for $15K. If they don't give you $15K, they will most definitely give you at least $10K. Ask for another increase in 6 months and you'll get to where you want to be in terms of CL. Let us know how you fare with the request. Good luck !!

I'm in the same boat. My first statement cut 10 days after I received the card, so my first payment was only for 1.3k. I think I've put about 7k through the card in the last month, and will have to push another payment through before the month is over. They started me with 11.5k, and I think I'd like to see 16-20K for a CLI after 60 days. I don't know if they will give it to me or not...I don't remember if there are a lot of people who get 20K CL with Amex. I probably had about a 745 EX FICO and 7% util when I app'd.

So I told her I wanted a cli and she asked how much, I told her I wanted to be at 12k, she typed something into the computer, then said congratulations your limit has been increased to 12k without even pulling your information.
