It happened!! 4506 T Request-UPDATE

I received a call from AMEX moments ago. They followed up with an email with attached documents. I have 5 days to send the 4506 T form back. I'm sending it back today. Fortunately, I have zero balances on the accounts.

She just said they needed to update my file. I'm doing what they ask. Both of my accounts says charging suspended. I wonder how long will this take.

Yes, this shows that anyone can get FR. I was in the middle of having lunch when the call came through. I started to not answer it because the number didn't appear. I'm going to send copies of my W2's in addition to the 4506T to get this over with.

This is why I will never go for an AMEX. It is none of their business how much money I make nor what I pay for taxes!!!

I'm going to look at it this way. For whatever reason they decide to close my accounts, if I reapply for cards within 10 years, my account will still get backdated to 1997. No worries.

It may be a hassle, but I'm sure that you'll be fine. And whatever happens, you do have the accounts sitting on your reports for the next 10 years, which will continue to help your AAoA. Good luck to you.

Maybe it is because you recently opened your Blue Sky? Or did you run any large charge through your card?

I hope this won't happen to me when I app for BCE on Jan 2012. While I got nothing to hide, I find this intrusive.

This is the point exactly for many people. While we have nothing to hide, DH will not share our personal tax info. Agree with him or disagree with him, it's his right. I hope that I stay under the radar because we file our taxes jointly, so I would not be able to comply without violating his right to privacy. And if it comes down to respecting his wishes or pleasing a CCC -- any CCC -- well, there's no question that I will honor his feelings on this.

+1. I've been an American Express customer for a very long time, and if they ever tried to F/R me, I'd cancel my accounts instantly. No credit card is worth that level of intrusion into my private financial affairs. Frankly, I don't know why anyone would submit to it. There are so many things on tax returns - dependant information, investment information, and a host of other things that I'm not willing to share with anyone other than a mortgage banker - and only then when I can sit down with them and go over things IN PERSON. I've run well over a million dollars through AMEX over the years, and if that and a good payment history is not enough for them, then they can put their card where the sun doesn't shine. To blindly allow a credit card company to pull my IRS records to review is not something I'm willing to do. The whole "your approved" for our card, and then come back at you to see if they made the right decision, either immediately or years down the road, is ridiculous.

Besides, there are a zillion other cards out there, and in reality, there is NOTHING special about AMEX.

I guess you need to or have a right to dig in what triggered this F/R?

If I would you I would find out from them or get it in writing what they need to update their file and why and than probably I would submit the required docs.

Atleast find out for once if that was real Amex call. I will not believe on any such calls unless I get it is writing from the bank

TrueEarnings card from Costco....or maybe it was somewhere else on here. I remembered reading you or another person here got their TE card bumped up to $22K and that person was trying to PC to Blue Cash card. If it's not you, than please disregard.

I know for one thing, if you have a couple of cards with Amex and just received a huge CLI...than you apped for another card, they are going to want some additional information from you.

In any event, I am sure you will get it all straighten out.

I had the bump to $22,200 on my Costco card. Also after that I opened a green card. Not a word from them for me - yet. I am not sure we will re-up with Costco so I may PC to Blue Cash Preferred. Amex already told me this was fine. Account number would stay the same, they would just send me a new card.

If they FR me, that's fine as I have nothing to hide from them. It will only reinforce what I stated on the application and could even lead to better things down the road.

I never lie to my wife, USAA, or the credit card folks!

Never had a problem yet.

I changed the checking account that I pay them from, so that may have caused it. Plus,only make small charges. But anyway, I am thankful to have a zero balance on both cards, and a host of other cards to use whatever the outcome may be.

My thoughts exactly. AmEx might have been all that at one time but they sure as heck ain't now.
