NEWBIE HERE!! Looking for help!!! Thanks in advance!!!

Hey everyone !!!! First off, this website is AWESOME!!!! I recently became obsessed with fixing my credit and getting the best score I can get!! I so far raised my Experian score from 529 to 712!!! I know its not fico but still, it had to be somewhat close, right??? Same with TU ad EQ, they were both low 500's, now TU is 638 and EQ is 648!!! This is crazy and I did it in 2.5 months!!! My question is, I would like to get one more credit card, cause I got one secured CC but I would like 1 REAL one!!! With my scores, would they approve me, and 2, would these be hard inquiries? It don't want to bring down my score after I have been dieing trying to get the scores up, and also, if my scores are not high enough, wouldn't want to go thru all that just to get denied. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Most CC applications will result in a hard pull. There are some soft pull preapproval sites where it may help you in saving an unnecessary hard pull. Try Amex, Discover, Cap 1, and Household for preapprovals.

thanks so much for your help. one last thing, with the fico scores i gave, would i have anything to worry about in getting a CC? if i get a hard inquiry, at least i would like to get the CC. should i be ok with my scores to get a unsecured CC?

I think you'd have a real good shot at household w/rewards, but you may by started at a 300 CL. Cap 1 may grow faster though. Try the preapprovals. I'll start you off with Household, here's the link...

Not at all. Soft inquiries are only seen by you, not by any creditors viewing your report.

Thanks bud! Ok so I did that link you gave me and it came back with one hit a household bank rewards card. Is this a decent card? I never heard of household. I apologize if I am asking to many questions or stupid questions. I really am just looking for guidance in something I know nothing about. If it came back with one card, doesthis mean I can actually get it??

Its a rebuilder card, Household is a branch of HSBC, will probably start you at $300, but if you treat it right it'll help you open other bigger doors. The site links you to the card you'd most likely be approved for, you still have to finish the application after you see the offer. If you got 0 AF, you were matched with the best offer on that card available.

See what the others have to offer as well. Some prefer opening secured lines, but most will also result in a hard pull. There is one from Public Savings bank which I don't think does a pull, but doesn't unsecure either. Search these forums and you'll find great advice from a bunch of great members here.

ok, i just got a littlediscouraged cause i thought i had better credit that just a hsbc type card, BUt it is better then 3 months ago!! if i tried the pre approval before, they would have laughed in my face!!! i got a 0% apr for 9 months and 19.90% after 9 months. does this sound reasonable?? would this be worth the hard pull?

Don't be discouraged, you can try others. It shouldn't hurt to have it as it has rewards and doesn't have an annual fee. Like I said, use it as a stepping stone. I dont know you'll get prime cards until you're 720+. let us know how it goes.

1 - 3 Hard pulls aren't so bad really.

Just research which cards pull from where (Which is all over the internet).

I would suggest Capital One, but thats just me.
