After months of getting the "No offers at this time" message, I checked out the BofA preapproval thingy again tonight.

Preapproved for:

BofA Amex - $1500 CL - 9.9 fixed on purchases - 0% on BT for 12 months

Visa Platinum Plus - $1500 CL - 0% on everything (purchases, BT, cash) for 12 months - low to mid teens on purchases after that

BankAmericard Rewards Visa - $1500 CL - 0% on everything for 12 months - mid to high teens after that

The $1500 across the board matches my current highest CL (Kay). 9.9 fixed is the lowest APR I've ever been offered.

I REALLY shouldn't app. I have 7 new accounts in the last year, including 4 in the last 2 months. I need to get a little age in those before I do anything. I was going to go for the Delta CCU Visa in March or so, and one of the reasons was 9.8 fixed APR.

On the other hand, if I can get in with BofA.....

Why, oh why, did I check that preapproval thingy again?

*sigh*

This is almost as agonizing as the Blue Cash preapproval that stares at me every time I log in to my Delta Skymiles account.

seems we have similiar dilima's. i too want to app delta and have the same boa offer. i resisted temptaion on the boa offer, but i have way more inq's and new accounts than you. i say go for it!

You mean there's a preapproval page on their website, or do you get to the info some other way? Do you (or does anybody else) know of any other cards with similar preapproval info available?

Yep, there is a preapproval form on their website. Just go to their site, click "Credit Cards", then click "Preapproved?", and fill out the form. It's a soft pull.

The only other soft-pull preapproval pages I know of are Capital One, HSBC, and Spiegel. I wish there were more. I think.

I had that same dilemma as you just over a month ago. I apped the Amex for the $50 credit and plan to switch to BankAmericard sometime down the road because it gives more points. Besides, I already have 3 Amex's but no really good Visa/MC.

I think I'm going to wait, as well. I'd rather get in good with a CU first, then go for more major lenders. BofA will always be there.

I know I don't have that many new accounts, but the more I read about Amex's and Juniper's attitudes towards new accounts and read all the AA horror stories here and on other forums, I'm beginning to get extremely gunshy about apping, because 2 of my 4 new accounts in the last 2 months are Amex and Juniper.

I like my Amex a lot, but it may have been a bit premature. There's still some other stuff I want, and now I feel like I'm walking on eggshells.

On the website you mentioned, under the "Credit Cards" heading click "Personal".

On the next page, click the middle orange button at the top. It's labeled "Get Card Offers".

My eyes were open but I wasn't seeing. I was looking for pre-approved, not pre-qualified. Thanks!

A couple of months ago I did the same pre-approval on their website and it said I qualified for a couple of their cards with a CL of $3500. So, I apped for the BofA Amex and didn't get it instantly. I believe it was the 7-10 message. So I waited a day or two and called Customer Service to inquire about the status. I got the "New Accounts" dept. and gave the guy my info. He said alright let me pull up your application. Asked me a couple of questions and said "Alright, looks like I can go ahead and approve this application, is a $10,000 CL good enough?" Uh....YEAH!! So I went from an initial approval of $3500 to $10K now. I almost got the impression that the reps have a little bit of pull on what gets approved and what doesn't, and do not neccissarily reply on a computer generated response. So my advice is this: If you do decide to app and get the 7-10 message do like I did, give it a couple days, give CS a call and ask for status. You might be pleasantly surprised. Good luck.

Hey, they finally cracked the door for me, too --identical offers, rates, CL's etc. Good --they can cook for a while. In three or four months, if they up the limits to $5K or more, one of these might become my BT card. They could be useful as a one-day card --DH has gotten two CLI's on his AAA plat plus Visa in just nine months --I think he's at around $16K now.

Don't know how much was my score jump and how much was finally coming off the opt-out list.

edit: whoops, forgot that BofA is NOT the CCC for BT's --most of their cards don't cap the BT fee. So I'll be looking for the 0% on purchases instead. whew

i agree with you on all accounts. juni shut me down earlier.

cu's have been very good to me. i'm hoping when i app delta they will continue the trend.

Well, it's been a while since I've tried it. Never got offered anything. I gave it a try and was "pre-approved" for my choice of the Amex or 2 Visa choices with $4k CL. No way! I got all excited. Got the dreaded 30 Day notice. Bummer. Checked and no inquiries on EQ or TU. EX is frozen. I thought they automatically pulled another CRA if one didn't work... Maybe I'll call tomorrow and talk to someone...

BOA seems to give the 30 day notice on most apps—and they really take the 30 days! When I applied for BOA I literally saw the inquiry on my EX within several minutes, and that is the CR they seem to pull most of the time.

@Anonymous! That makes me feel better. I would really love that BOA AMEX @ $4k. The frozen EX file probably threw the system for a loop. I might have to call to get them to pull TU or EQ.
