Can one go 3 full years without an app.?

This is what I should do; sit on my hands and let my accts. age until my BK falls off in 2014 before getting any new accts.

I'm wondering if others have successfully abstained from seeking new credit for such an extended period.

I got my first non-store CC 4 years ago. My next card came last month! With another one a week after that.

Been there, done that. Last app August 2008...

(OK, I did a home mortgage in 2010, but that does not count.)

I applied for a car loan in 2006. And then nothing until 2011. So yes, it's possible. I have had the same two cards since 2000 and 2002. My problem has been paying the dang things in full. Glad to say I have zero balances on both now. That and on-time payments (had some hiccups in 2006 and 2007) allowed me to qualify for my first rewards CC, which I applied for and got just recently.

The credit score impact of inquires is the previous 12 months, period. There are other components of score including mix of credit (cards, installment, mortgage), AAOA and utilization.

Just sitting still will lead to a score increase, but if you want to be in the best position when your BK falls off your record don't just sit on your hands, take charge of what you can impact and make well thought-out moves to get what you need, without getting back into whatever led you to BK.

I did this. Applied and approved for my very first CC in college w/ Wells Fargo in '06. Graduated last year and started working and applied for a GEMB Art Van card to pay for some furniture and then later this year applied BOA Cash Rewards. But back in college I didn't know much about credit.

My youngest CC is almost 7 years old so yes it's definitely possible.

From a BK years ago to:
EX - 3/11 pulled by lender- 835, EQ - 2/11-816, TU - 2/11-782

Yes definately possible. I got my first three cards in Q2 of 2006 and 4th card in Q3 of 2009

like everyone said, it's doable. i had a first premiere back in 2002. the cc i got after that was in 2009. of course, just by the card i mentioned, you can already tell why i did not bother app'ing for a long time.

Hi pazuzu, I agree with other members ... We all can do it! You just need to have strong determination

In my case, I thought I was done for appd in Jan 08 with Discover More and Citi Driver"s Edge (now thankyou card) to take the 0% APR BT offer. Later ~ in May 09' I appd for NFCU cashRewards because I was not happy with nRewards Program (keeping this one due to the oldest acct). Then, in Oct 10' I appd for Addison Ave Visa (now First Tech) for No Foreign Transaction Fee for in case of travel to my home country in the future ... I wish I can, to see my family.

So, my apps are done! Those last three was pre-approved offers in the mail. And I still receives pre-approved offers in the mail, but it goes straight to the shredder!!

Yes it is possible. I went from 10/1994 to May 2006 without apping for a card. Keep in mind during most of that time period you could not apply on line. What caused me to app for a new card? My ATT Visa card account was being closed because that type account (cash rewards) was no longer being offered. The creditor did not offer me another card. So apped for 3 cards and was approved for all three. So far I have not apped for a card in a year.

Actually I am about to complete my second three year app free period. .

When ALL tradelines on an Equifax report
have at least three complete rows of green
it makes a real pretty picture.
