I did something real stupid. I pushed the love button again on my HSBC credit card hoping for another automatic CLI like I received a couple of days ago. It was not automatic and they said they would give me a decision within 72 hours. I was thinking that I could push my luck with them and now I think I pressed my luck.

I don't think you did anything wrong. They have no problem with saying no and pressing forward. Just curious, what "luv" button does HSBC have anyway?

FWIW, I've never heard of anyone asking for a CLI days after receiving one, come on! Occupy your time some other way.

I dont get it. Or maybe I am naive. You have never heard of anyone who has received another CLI on a card days after they have received one.

I have. Hey if you want to app for CLI everyday that is YOUR busy! I don't know if that will be a good thing to do but it is your time and if that is what you wanted to do then so be it. I understand your demise with HSBC. If I could get anyway with trying to app for a CLI every 5 mins and they get tired of me doing it then I would--j/k.

Jack, I know it is my business but what I trying to do is not make the same mistakes and for me to do that I have to be honest. I am just looking for feedback and not be judged to harshly. Trust me, I can do that to myself just fine.

lando honestly I do not think you need to justify that with an answer. You clearly stated in your subject line, "what was I thinking..."--fully recognizing you should not have done it. You did it, it is over. You have to do what works for you, not because someone else is trying to judge you for it! Had that CLI worked out for you somebody else what have probably went and did the same thing right after you said it worked.

The way we learn is by trial and error right?

When it comes to repeating mistakes, your lookin at the King, you wouldn't believe it. I was not judging you at all, it just seemed like a futile effort headed for a negative response and no one likes negative responses.

It's awfully easy to get the brain stuck in hunter's mode, what with planning your own app'ing plus staying revved up from reading all the posts here. Probably no damage done, and I think I've done quite a few things that were goofier!

I appreciate your candor Jack and your honesty. I am practicing an exercise in futility if I keep pressing my ccc's for increases and I would literally be stuck on stupid. I just need to be patient and do the basics for now that have lead to the 3 increases that I received already this week. Pay on time without fail. Always pay above the minimum if I am not able to pay the balance in full. Keep my card utilization low. Stay on MyFico.

I have found PATIENCE is the best attribute to have while playing this credit game, seriously. It sounds to me like you've got a great plan and that's what you need. Not judging, just observing. haha

lando, don't feel bad. I do the same thing. HSBC is really firm in looking only once in a 6 month time period, but it sure doesn't stop me from trying!

The urge to hit the love button, is so overwhelming for me at times. Either that or apply for another card.

And for crissakes I just got a Macy's card last week! They have a fantastic 1 day sale tomorrow. I'll be there when the stores open at 7am.

Then I'll be alllllll through with Christmas shopping! For everybody! yayyyy
