Approved for Discover More!!!

Currently disputing a baddie that showed up which should not be there on my EQ report, but decided to pull the trigger on the offer I received for the Discover more card so I could transfer the Balance of my cap1 ventureone card for 0% interest for 15months...Well got the "Application under review, please allow 5-7 days" message so called the Backdoor recon number and spoke with CSR who asked a few questions and told me they could not approve me for the same offer I got in the mail but countered with a higher interest rate of 22% instead of 18%. So i asked which CR they pulled and of coarse they had to pull EQ which has the disputed item on it that dropped my score 40 points fro 714 to 677, so before accepting the new offer I asked if I could call in when the dispute was resolved and change my interest rate and I was told that after 6 months I could call in and ask for a review of my account for lowering my rate and CLI. I thought that was fair since I only plan to pay off the 0% apr balance transfer and pay for gas here and there.

So I accepted and finally got in with Discover, first time ever with a $2000 CL!!! My second highest CL. Now I can call and cancel my FP card!!!

Has anyone been successfull lowering there interest rates with Discover? or was I fed rubbish from the CSR.

I was told the same about asking for a review down the line, so unless they are training all CSRs to tell tall tales, it should be good. Good luck.

Congrats!!! Discover on a roll lately. They approved me with my highest limit too.

Congrats, I also was approved with a 5000CL last week, hoping that CL will grow with the account to make it usable.

Only $1000 limit but its a start...

How are they on recon for a higher limit?? Anyone know??

It's so fun to call and cancel FP! I tried last week but they offered me 45 bucks to keep it open. Spent the 45 bucks on school clothes and then closed it.

Yip! Last week, of the 4 cards I closed 2 were HSBC cards, and it felt absolutely great to do so. The next day, I was approved too for a Discover card with a $1500 CL. It shocked the heck out of me - 8 years ago, Discover was one of my highest CL cards when I declared bankruptcy. I thought it would take a few more years befrore they let me back in. The ironic thing is that one of the HSBC cards I still have is a Discover Network card. It was the first card I got three years ago when I started rebuilding. It started with a $2100 limit but got decreased to $1990 a couple of years ago. I was debating closing this one too, now that I have "a real Discover," but I am thinking I should wait to see what HSBC and Capital One are doing. I have a couple of cards with Capital One too - And to be honest - I am fine keeping the Discover Card and just my Capital One MC and closing the Capital One Visa, which they refuse to increase and the HSBC Discover, just because I really do not like dealing with HSBC. Other than watching what HSBC and Captital One will do - I guess keeping these two would be good for the age of my cards- all gotten in early 2008 esxcep the Discover Card.
