The Gold Premier Rewards...it offered 50,000 points! I'm going to cancel next Sept and try for the BCP. That's what I really wanted, but I didn't want to rock the boat!

I have been working on my credit score for almost a month. I paid off my car and am down to a 3% utilization on my cards. Im working on removing 4 yr old 30 day delinq. My TU fico score is 699 as of yesterday, which is up significantly (30 points) from 3 weeks ago. I got 1 offer for Amex blue 4 weeks ago and another 2 weeks ago, but with a better interest rate. Mon i got an offer for the gold card! I recently got approved for a Citi thank you with a CL of $7200. That's my only inquiry my report. Secretly, I've always wanted an Amex card, but I refuse to pay an annual fee. With my score rising and 3 offers in a 4-5 week period, am I likely to be approved, or should I wait? BTW, my TU report said that I didn't have enough cc where I'm the primary card holder.

I would go for it, but that's just my not-so-secret desire to get the Amex BCP speaking. Honestly, I would think that if you were approved by Citi, you shouldn't have any problems being approved by amex, especially if they're sending you preapprovals.

Good luck.

Yes, this offer was not on line when I looked the cards I was preapproved for. So I called, and she told me I actually had 4 offers available. You guys said the charge was easy, and she said it came with crazy points, so I got it. Guess what? I applied for the plain Blue credit card and got it! OMG! Do you see my scores? I think they are better because I had an old collection recently off and some 3-4 year old lates, and a correction. soooo, what should I do? Cancel the 1st or keep them both? I'm like the idea of having a solid limit. I dont want to mess up utilization with high balance being used as limit. Opinions?

Personally I would keep them both, use your charge for everyday purchases that you PIF at the end of the month and use your Blue for revolving purchases or however you want to split your spend. Which blue card did you get? Sounds like you applied for both via the phone, I`d be interested to know if you end up with two inquries.

I actually applied for the 1st on the phone then the 2nd online. I'm expecting 2 inquiries. They are my only 2 on EX in 6 years! I wont need to apply for anything for at least a year. I just got the plain Blue, but will ask for a PC in a year? That's how long you have to wait, right?

So can you tell me how to pay this so it always reports $0? Please?

I believe you can PC AMEX Products after 13 months. Yes from what I`ve seen elsewhere you will probably end up with two inquries, but I dont think you will take much of a hit for them. You should see the statement close date displayed on your login account, I would pay by that date.
