The button finally showed up. My limit is 7k, and I'd like a card with 10k. I don't need it though.

Is it worth clicking the button just to see? Or might I possibly trigger the dreaded financial review by clicking it?

AmEx FR is so arbitrary that anything could trigger it - even not clicking that button lol I've read about people triggering it from charging $5 at a supermarket, etc. I think when a simple reuest like a CLI causes worry for such an invasive measure, it's time to look for other card products

Try it, no one can tell you for sure but I hope it doesn't trigger it :/ If it does trigger FR, then it should be no problem handing over all of the requested info in order to retain the card you love. Good luck.

How long ago was your last credit limit increase? Remember, it must be EXACTLY 6 month to the date for it to work. My 6 month is coming up in a few days. Now, if I did click on it now and try to request it, I will be denied. When my cli date comes and I request it again, it will be granted. The happened to me before.

Where is the button? I'm interested in seeing if I can get an increase on my Hilton HHonors card. The 6 month mark is coming up in a week, but it's a new card, and I thought you only had to wait 60 days or 3 months or something along those lines for your first increase. Is this rule different for new cards for existing cardmembers? Or does it even apply anymore?

I don't see the button anywhere unless I go into the preferences tab and click manage limits. I'm assuming that the button you're talking about is on the main summary of accounts page.

I'm happy with the limit, but I've got like 4 cards all stuck at $6000, and I think if I can get AMEX to double it, some others may increase as well. I'm specifically thinking of Discover, who has always auto-CLId me to match or exceed my highest limit in the past. Discover is my main spending card, and the increase would actually help there, but I don't think they do customer initiated CLIs without a hard pull anymore.

So that was semi-long and rambling. Thanks anyway.

But it also applies to *all* of your AmEx cards. Aside from the 60 day rule after you get a card; AmEx's rule is 1 CLI in 6 months, for *any* of your cards.

For example: I have 2 AmEx. 1) The original Blue Cash, 2) The Mercedes AmEx.

The last CLI I got on my AmEx Bluecash is going to hit the 6 month mark on Oct 27, eligible for CLI on Oct 28.

The 60 day mark for my Mercedes Amex comes up on Oct 23. Based on the 60 day rule for new cards; I'd be eligible for CLI on Oct 24.

Since my Mercedes Amex is eligible for CLI on Oct 24; you'd think that I could click the button, and get the CLI, right?

The answer is 'no'. Because I would still be within the 6 month period, from the last Blue Cash CLI.

So, I will have to wait until Oct 28; then choose which of the 2 cards I want the CLI on.

I was able to find the button at the bottom of the "Recent Activity" page. My question however is... for the people who have submitted for a CLI, is it a soft pull still or were there any hard pulls noticed as of recent?

Thanks!

Decided to pull the trigger anyway. Instantly approved $7,500 > $15,000 in seconds. No issues whatsoever. Even if there is a hard pull, still worth it.

+1

As to the FR question, I do not think that asking for a CLI is going to trigger FR. There are countless people requesting CLIs all the time. If I had to guess, FR is triggered by a complete review of many factors. So if you have borderline credit, just barely got in the door with Amex, have recently added 5 other new accounts to your CR, paid your legal fees for your divorce on your Amex, made a run at the casinos followed by some time at the strip club, and then capped off the night with a late night shopping binge at Walmart, be careful asking for a CLI. Otherwise, I doubt you'll have a problem.

That's some funny stuff...I would imagine Amex will close your account if a person you described was in that situation. Haha.

Did it end up being a "hard pull"?
