AMEX "Credit Profile Employment Information"

Hi Everyone,

I was recently approved for an AMEX Blue Cash Preferred with a 2K limit and was poking around the Profile Information section on my online account. I saw that my "Credit Profile Employment Information" was blank.

Do you think that filling this out will help with future considerations for CLI increases in a few months?

I wouldn't touch that with AMEX either.

DO NOT TOUCH THE INFORMATION IN THERE!!!!!!!! Changing your financial profile on the website or adding on when there isn't may prompt the dreaded financial review. Why they have that on there beats me, but I know of several cases where people changed there profile because of a legitimate change in income circumstances and a few days later had their accounts suspended and FR.

Yikes I am getting concerned cause I tried to update employment info yesterday since they have my old employer on file and got an error saying to call in to update. I called and was transferred to some nice lady who took the info I gave her and updated it. I hope I wasn't speaking with someone from the FR deparment. How will I know if I am suspended or become victim of FR?

I always keep my information updated there. I just got a raise here at work, and I posted my new anual salary to update it.

As long as you are honest, I would not worry about an FR. If anything, it will help you move forward with Amex.

I don't normally go in for all the Amex FR warnings. And I admit that I filled this info out and even updated it with a raise too without thinking about it. I'm sure that will help you move forward. But that's if you're updating it because you are moving forward. What if you change jobs, take a paycut, etc. I suppose you don't have to update it in that circumstance, but I can see the wisdom on this one to leaving well enough alone.

Your card(s) will stop working, generally that is the first indicator that your are being FR'd.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, but with AMEX generally it is best to fly under the radar.

Probably not. And by probably, I mean that the overwhelming likelihood is that applying for an additional card or a CLI will not result in FR. I don't have any real evidence to back this up, except that there are tons of threads posted with people getting approved for second, third, fourth Amex cards and CLIs and very few people that post of actual experience with FR.

Well said, Walt_K. I don't understand why every is so afraid of an FR. "Will a purchase at _____ trigger an FR?" "Will a purchase of _____ trigger an FR?" If AMEX gives you a certain credit line...use it. Credit cards are meant to be used (responsibly of course). Where, when or for how much should not make a difference. I doubt AMEX is trying to trap you into an FR with the employment profile information. I update it everytime something changes...no FRs...no big deal. Relax MyFico'ers!
