Has anyone applied for the Amex Blue Card

I am looking at applying for another CC and I found out that Amex has a new Blue Card. Has anyone applied for that card? If so, can you give me any feedback as far as the requirements, before I apply. Of course I am trying to make sure I pre-qualify myself as best as possible. Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to the Blue Cash Preferred?

Below is my experience with AmEx.

I have the Blue Cash and the Blue Cash Preferred.

I apped for the Blue Cash back in March of this year and was approved with a EX Fico of about 730, I had a CO at that time on my reports, AAoA's around 4yrs, 2 inq's, 1%util. I think I got lucky.

I also apped for the PR Gold 7/11 instant approval, EX FICO est. 774, perfectly clean report, 1% util, 7 yrs AAoA's, 3 inq's

10/02/11 Apped for the Blue Cash Preferred instant approval, EX FICO 786 same stats as above, all these AmEx's cards have been backdated to 91.

AmEx Credit Cards are harder to get than their Charge Cards, I think with the scores you have listed, you may be best off going for one of their Charge Cards first, something like the Zync or maybe the Green or Gold.

Are your reports clean? The more info you can provide about your reports, especially your EX report, because AmEx is known to pull EX almost exclusively, however when I apped for the PR Gold they also pulled TU for me, I have heard AmEx will sometimes pull multiple CR's for their Charge Cards. So if you could give us a little more info as to how your reports look, we can give you a much better idea of what you may qualify for, but based on your scores alone, I would say you might best qualify for a Charge Card first.

Unfortuantely I did apply. I should have waited, but we will see. I was approved for a Capital One fo $1000, so i guess I felt lucky. Thanks for the information, that gives me a range that I should try next time. Will keep everyone updated on the results. I didn't get an immediate reply. They said they would let me know in 7-10 days. What does that mean? Thanks again.

and that means there gonna process it but you can check the status anytime on here

sigh! generations that obtained capital prior to my generation came more easily than it does now. you can obtain a large amount of capital now if you make enough effort, but it is not without first shedding the moral objective of being thoughful and considerate.

i remember hearing about how many back then got ahead that started out behind by defaulting on student loans (when you could) and then soon obtaining decent income careers. they would work hard (and morally honest), become wealthy, and by the time it was necessary to step on others to get ahead in more recent era, they didn't have to do this. these same good ol' folks point their finger at me and scold me for not getting ahead like they did.

I was approved for the Blue card with a CS in the high 600s. I've had lates from April 2011 and others from 2006-2007. My AAoA was 9 years. I've had multiple car loans and mortgages with excellent pay hx. Income is excellent. No BR/CO.

The wait thing doesn't mean "no." you can check the status on line, call a csr, or just wait. You never know! Good luck!

Thanks I was thinking the same thing. The way I see it, if I get a letter in 2-5 days I know its a denial letter. They cant make the cards that fast lol. Also everyone I made a mistake I actually applied for the TrueEarnings Card from Costco and American Express. Not the Blue Card, sorry about that everyone. I changed my mind after doing a little more research. But everyones help was much needed. I used the MyFICO Credit Card tab. It basically said which Visa, Mastercards, Discover and Chase cards I qualified for based upon my credit score, reward preference etc... Sooo we will see what happens. I was already approved for a Capital One Card with a starting CL of $1000. Hopefully that means I am doing something right. One more thing, if everyone can check back in a few I will let you know what happened, that way you can judge whether you want to apply for the same card yourself. Stay tuned....

It's surprising how fast they can get that card to you. My SPG was overnighted to me without my request. It arrived the day after I applied.

My report is loaded with college loans all paid on time, two aulo loans closed and paid as agreed, BOFA $500 CC and a 5 year old repo. I am happy to be smelling the 700's. After this batch of attempted CC, I will go gardening for two years. Then come back as Super Credit Man!!!!! waaaaaaahahahahahaha At least thats the plan, hopefully WWIII will not have occured by then.

actually, glad you mentioned this because all applicants that apply for this card through the website have to wait 7 to 10 days. this is because they first have to confirm with Costco if wether or not you are a member. this way they know if they should charge you the AF fee or not.

if you have a friend that wishes to apply for this card, make sure he or she applies in store, that way they can be approved instantly if they qualify. they might also be able to apply in store with the option to not be a paying member, but i am not sure about this.

True I had to get a Costco card first, then apply for the AMEX. A lot of trouble for this card and actually if I could redo it, I wouldnt apply for the card. Yet if I get the card, maybe it would be worth it.

Well everyone sad to say, Amex kicked me to the curb I was denied. But out of four cards, I got two. I am going to assume that Discover Motiva card was denied because they will not give me an immediate decision. They said I would receive a decision in 30 days. Well time to do some magnificent gardening. Hopefully by mid next year, six months I will be at 700+. Bad thing though, I have four inquires. Which, considering the credit I received, is not that bad. Kinda stupid for punishing someone for applying for credit. That's just dumb. that's my last grip for 2011 Garderning at a Gophers level!

Approved for Capital One $1000, Approved for Discover Motiva $1000, Approved for Household Bank $300, Approved for BofA $500 and denied for Amex (I was pushing it). Four out of five is great. Gardening, hopefully it will produce an Amex express by summer or end of next year. Wish everyone the best, if I can do it, I know you can! One more thing This is very important... The Credit Card Center (right here at My FICO) helped me get the cards or should I say, I followed the suggestions. Check it out. Strange way to get there, click the Financial Help Center above, then the Credit Card Center tab appears, click that, then click at the bottom right, advise me. Good luck.

Give them a call back and see if they will approve you for the Zync card. It's only a charge card but it gets your foot in the door with them making it much easier down the road to get credit products. Your scores are right in the neighborhood for it. They have relaxed their typically high standards for this card and even have sub Zync cards with lower spending limits and even one where you agree to auto draft your account. The time frame may be to long for them to use the same report but it certainly can't hurth to try. I'd say you have a really good shot at it. I plan on applying in a week or so, just waiting for an account to update.

Before you give up on Amex try to recon, it can't hurt and won't be another inquiry since it's less than 30 days ago. Also I would strongly suggest to sign up for at least one or two CU whether local/regional/national. Just take your pick based on what you want and apply for membership/credit card. I know Alliant/First Tech will use the same inquiry for both membership and credit card. There are others as well too. Just need to do some reading on here

You will get better limits with CU and good CLI over time and can qualify for a personal loan too usually after 6 months with some
