OK...I need some help from my FICO Forums friends regarding Discover!

As some of you no doubt noticed, I have been pining for Discover due to the fact that they are accepted by EVERY store in the plaza I frequent and have dynamite customer service. My scores have improved and I am receiving regular mailings from Discover inviting me to apply. However, they do not list any pre-approved offers on their website.

My credit profile is essentially as follows:

1. BK7 exactly 2 years old (Discover NOT included)

2. NO late pays on my entire report

3. AAoA: 7.5 years

4. Util: 28%

5. Only one baddie on my report - and that is the lone remaining holdout that was discharged in the BK7

6. 6 inquiries on both EQ and TU

What do you think? Am I wishing on a star here? I await your earnest feedback

Well if you want a honest answer, I wouldnt try applying with a prime with a BK, I`d say that would be a dealbreaker. if not for that you would have a good chance. Again YMMV and I suppose all you have to lose is an inquiry.

I certainly want an honest answer. Problem is, I have read in these forums about people being approved with BKs on their record, whihc others have been denied with BK listed as the reason.

You could very well be approved it's difficult to say, at the end of a day its an inquiry which in the grand sceme of things has a relatively small impact, theres only one way to find out...

My scores are right in line with your scores and I have CO's Ca's and lates on my report and was approved. I don't have any

BK's tho.

I would saay give it a go and apply online and then call right away if it says 7-10 days notification.

You can go over your report with them like I did.

Have you tried Credit Unions that are BK friendly?

I went over to whogavemecredit and see that people are saying that they are getting approved with a BK on file. I'd give it a shot. Worst they can say is no.

If your really itching to apply, I say go for it! However, im a little skeptical that they will approve you. I have seen FICO scores take a big increase when the BK reaches 3 years old. I personally was declined from discover years ago for a 6.5 year old collection of $700. Be prepared to use the BD number and call for a Recon, to make the most of your inquiry. State your case and back it up!! It kills me when I hear responses of people getting "timid or "afraid" when speaking to them. You have less than 5 minutes to prove to them that they would be CRAZY not to give you credit!!
