Approved for chase freedom low cl ;(

I applied for chase freedom and Amex at same time. Got approved with Amex and denied with chase. I did a recon with chase and it was like pulling teeth. I only have one baddie left, over 6 years old, about to fall off. So answered all the questions, then she said I had to send proof of social and address. I did and called another csr who verified more info then said you are approved for 500! Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful I could turn a denial into an approval, but am hoping they will give decent clis in time. Also because I got Amex, was surprised chase gave me so much. But just thankful I got a reconsideration, I always read about them, yet Ive never been successful. Anyone get good clis with chase?? Thanks

What are your scores? When I applied I was denied so I called to recon and they told me had I had at least one credit card for a year in good standing that they would've approved me

I wouldn't cry in my beer too much about the low CL...there are many here who would love to be in your shoes i.e. in the Chase and AMEX credit card family

I actually got Denied for a Chase Slate and this after getting approved for Discover More, Amex Zinc, Amex Gold (for company related expenses) and Amex BCE. I called the recon line and a very stern woman informed me that the bundle of lates I had from 2009 were what was preventing my approval. I pointed out the reasons for that, the fact that I was in good standing with all those accounts (most of which are still open) and that I've had clear history for the last year and six months to no avail. I don't particularly care about any of Chase's products and really did the recon for practice, but I was a bit miffed by inability to make a solid case. Oh well, I'll try again in a year and after some GW letters.

I would love to get in with Chase and build with them. Thing is one never know what they can pull. If they pull EX for me, wouldnt be good; that's my lowest.

You got a BCE? Would you mind sharing your CL?

BCE CL: 3100$ per what the rep just told me. APR is being finalized.

I always read that one need at least 700 on EX for the BCE.

I was a bit suprised by it honestly but I'm very pleased. I wonder if they took my past Amex history (high charge amounts, always payed, never late) into account or if they are reducing the entry requirements across their lines to encourage growth. I don't have any need for credit so I'll be setting up autopay for PIF every month but I was desparately missing good customer service and member benefits with my other bank-issued credit cards.

CS800....... Amex gave me the Zync, but the BCE they decline me for with an EX728.... cant quite figure those guys out :/

I had the same experience as above, I had some lates 4+ years ago and they told me they needed to see a new positive TL opened post the baddies. I tried via recaon. Explaining well I didn't apply for anything isn't that good, they basically said no. At the time I reconned I was approved for AMEX Plat, AMEX Zync, and PSECU Combo. in 6 months im trying for AMEX BCP and will try for chase again. If I get denied that next time they can kiss my A$$

There is really no logic when i comes to AMEX. I had their card back in 2000, I closed it in good standing in 2005, then about 3 months ago, I applied for a Platinum and got it, and my EX is lower than yours. I figured with their 'internal' scoring, I must have scored well. My util on EX was 1% at the time of my app.

I was tempted to try their BCE but I won't temp my luck just now since I just got the Discover. I like AMEX becasue of their backdating feature. I jsut want to have another card with no AF (preferably a revolver). The discover has no AF, so I want to add another credit card AMEX and a VISA/Mastercard with no AF.

So glad to read everyones responses! Yes, you are correct, I really shouldnt be complaining since I got my foot in the door with Chase and approval with Amex. However, I guess the point I was trying to make was how stingy Chase seemed to be, but who knows, again Im just grateful I was given another chance. My eq score was 687, thats what Chase checked. I called in a few days ago to ask for a cli and it was a no go. Thinking I will try again when I call in for activation, but who knows, Ive already turned around their denial and worked a recon, so maybe thats all they are willing to gamble on for now. Im just excited I turned a denial around, I have never been able to do that!!

You know, since joining this forum not too long ago, I have learned a TON of good information here. I have tried to get approved for a CHASE card for two-years now. After reading info on this forum, I thought I would app for a CHASE Freedom card and try again. This time though, armed with some additional info. I did not realize, that when your 'denied' you could call and ask for a reconsideration. NEVER would have even thought of it. So, long story short ... I app'd last night. Got the 7 to 10 day message, like all declines before. This time though, I called the recon number I found on this forum. Talked to the rep that answered. I answered a few questions, she asked why I wanted the CHASE card, I told her I had applied for two years now, with no success. Would like a BIG BANK card. She asked what credit limit I would like .. and why. I said $7500 and that, that will keep my utilization <10%. BAM! Approved for $8K!

The month of Feb-12 I went on a very successful app o'rama, all of course, to be used very wisely ..... NFCU (Visa Platinum $25K CL), Pen Fed (Platinum$5K CL), CHASE FREEDOM ($8K CL), JARED ($5K CL). I very rarely carry a balance from month to month. Mostly PIF. And, I keep my utilization at <5%. My FICO's prior to the app o'rama were 749 (EQ) and 739 (TU). Of course, I know my scores are lower now with the inquiries and that when the new accounts are added, that I will see another drop. BUT ... With a good payment history, respectful usage and PIF, the FICO scores should rebound very nicely in the next 6 to 12 months.
