I plan on picking up Chase / AMEX / Discover in July. My EX score will be close to 700 probably 685-695. With low util prolly around 5-9% I have 1 paid collection from 2005 that I hope to have removed soon and a Public Record Paid from 2005. Think I would be able to get it?

You mean the actual Clear card or the Blue card which is also clear in design? Because if it's the Clear, there are much better cards out there in terms of rewards.

Very cool looking card. I noticed it myself when I was looking at the diff Amex cards yesterday.

You get 1 point for every $ you spend. At 2500 points, you get $25, so it comes out to 1% in rewards. With the BCE and Costco, you do get a higher %. But it is a really cool design!

I got the Clear card with an old paid Amex baddie on my EX. I also had the Blue when I applied. My score was between a 702 and 711. I had 2 heavy secured cards, at that time, which I believed helped me get the Clear.

The link in this thread shows the Amex Clear, however, there are other clear (colorless!) Amex cards such as the Blue, BCP and BCE.

OP: I'm not sure, I don't think many people have the Clear card because most people with AMEX opt for a charge card, BCE/BCP, or one of the fancier cards (like platinum, etc).

This is true. The major perk of Clear is that there are absolutely no fees.

I got my clear for the simple rewards. I already have a Chase Freedom which most of my stuff goes through for the cash back, but I chose the Clear because I don't have to put any thought into the rewards. I spend $2500 and they send me a $25 amex gift card automatically.

I got mine because I thought you couldn't get CASH (only reward points towards material things) from other AMEX cards.

+1, rewards are a standard 1% but since I am not a big spender, having to spend only $2500 to cashout so to speak is great. I also put all of my big purchases and Ebay purchases on this card just in case something goes wrong with my purchase I like to know that I've got Amex there to help me out. I once bought a TV on Ebay for $1k, never came through. I disputed and Amex made the entire process pain-free. They certainly lived up to their name!

How "cool looking" a card is should rank nearly dead last in terms of factors considered before applying for one, IMO.

The cool thing about the clear is the no-nonsense 1% cashback rewards and no annual fee with all the other AMEX benefits and customer service. It is the one AMEX I would actually consider getting.

With most of the other AMEX cards you have to use it a lot, as in putting a lot of $ through the card, to offset the rather steep annual fees...

Exactly and when you're like me and have a low income and don't spend much money, it's a good card to have. Especially I'm addition to something like Chase Freedom so you can take advantage of the 5% categories.

My parents got Cleared back in 2007 because they had 3.9 for life BT... of course we all saw later Amex did not like that as the market crashed and so did their credit lines!!

but the perks of no fees is not a perk at all... you miss a payment, go over your credit line, etc. etc. you might not get a $35 fee but you will see the CL slashed or closed!!!

Dining out Costco way better

Grocery Blue Plus Preferred or whatever much better!
