Do not understand Amex

Hello all!! I have been an Amex cardholder since 06/2007. I hit the luv button earlier today and got the 7-10 message.....YET when I am on their website and go to check application status, it has todays date and APPROVED under status! I do not get it. Did I get the CLI or not.........anyone ever experience this??

It's just something with their site but it clearly tells you that page is just for new card status..

This site allows you to check the status of new card applications only. If you have requested either a line of credit increase or a balance transfer on an existing American Express card account, please call the number on the back of your card regarding the status of those requests.

I am not sure if most people realize but AMEX is tighting the purse strings on credit line increases!

I heard on the Wall Street journal radio show their credit rating was down graded.. The hosts were discussing the effect on credit card holders.

I applied for a credit line increase and I got my FIRST 7-10 day message. When I check the status page it tells me I am approved. But I received my letter in the mail today.

The letter states..... We regret to inform you that your request has been declined for the following reason:

Our bank policy does not permit us to increase the line of credit on your account within thirty days since opeining this account or within six months since increasing the line of credit on one of your existing American Express accounts.

I don't need the credit line increase... just asking for more money as usually.

I would not ask for a credit line increase with AMEX anymore. I will wait the normal 6 months to request an increase. No need to beg for an FR!

Yes all banks are feeling the pinch of the downturn in the economy right now. Dollar getting weaker and foreign invedter are finding other things to invest in than the greenback. The euro was .85 to 1.00, it is now 1.47 t the dollar.

Best advice IMHO is to start putting a lot more effort into saving money because the economy is in for a bumpy ride.

I also got the 7-10 message. However i do not know where to go to check the status. Can someone post the URL to check the status?

If you applied for a cli .. then you need to call the customer service rep (csr) number at the back of your card.

With all the FR's I am staying away from Amex. Once I get my Oasis card, I'll keep my Oasis card in good standing and stay away from Amex.
