Walmart does upgrade to Discover!

Just logged into my Wal-Mart card to pay my bill.. Was greeted by a would you like to upgrade message. Went through the screens and accepted the upgrade. Got an increase in credit line from $1925 to $2500 at the same time.

So it does happen. I've had the account for 4 years. Hopefully I don't lose the age of accounts.

Congrats! I'm hoping mine will eventually upgrade as well. From everything I've read here, you do lose the aging and the new CC w/have an opening date of today. The only downside. But you'll get rewards, which is great!

Yup, looks like you're going to lose the age of the account.

"Once activated, your existing account will be CLOSED and any existing balance on your Walmart Credit Card account will be transferred to your new Walmart Discover Card account"

Maybe they'll backdate if you call and ask

Yeah, I guess it will ding another month of my AAof A which will put me in just under 3 yrs.. time to garden

I was surprised to say the least..so I went and checked my Sam's club store card and no offer. Maybe I'll see one there soon also.

I can't check EQ or EX until tomorrow but I pulled my TU and didn't see any pulls. Generally GE has pulled TU for me in the past for everything (Sams, Lowes, Amazon,JCP, Walmart,Lord and Taylor).

My Walmart Card has been used for some $10 - 90 day scripts (Can't beat the generic prices).. so not too shabby!

Verified on All 3 CR's no pulls at all (including softs). Must have been an auto review of the account activity

I got a similar message last night but it wasn't an automatic upgrade. Somehow I minimized the window and lost the message. How do I find if I can still get this upgrade? Also, I already have a Discover More card. Would this interfere with that one?

It shouldn't interfere with your More card at all. The Walmart Discover only runs thru the network, it is not issued by Discover.

Ok thanks. Couple of questions: Do you know if it's a hard or soft pull and how do I get the upgrade screen to reappear?

It was not a hard or soft pull for me on any of the CRA's.

I would try clearing your cookies and going back into your account. I jumped on it at first sight so I'm not sure if you can get it back, but that would be the only thing I can suggest.

Maybe a call to CS to see if the offer is on your account there as well. Tell them you had the prequalified offer when you logged in but something happend as you were accepting it.

Thanks Jason! I was able to find the upgrade under the Offers tab. I'll try the upgrade and see what happens since it's not an inquiry.

Thanks again Jason! I just hope this doesn't rock the boat with Barclays. If so, oh well. The increase in the new Discover is equal to the limit they gave me anyway.

for anyone that took the upgrade offer for the WM discover

has anyone noticed the new account on their Cr's yet? mine are till showing my old card standard wm card as open and the new card hasnt reported yet. was curious to see if the open date stayed as what the member since date says on the newly issued card.

Has anyone that's been upgraded to the Walmart Discover been able to see their FICO score yet? I don't even have the "View FICO score" under the account details tab.
