Every single time I check out it shows me how much my order would cost with the $30 credit and tells me to apply now. I'm still going to wait until my credit looks good/better next month, if I can get a $5k line that would be great. I/we can spend $500 a month there and pay it off each month, that way I don't even change spending habits but generate a credit history. MAN I wish I knew this all as a teenager!

If anyone has experience, I'd love to hear about;

CRA(s) Pulled
FICOs
If Approved, Credit-Line
If Declined, why

Any input appreciated.

If you have a Paypal account, sometimes they say that your are pre-approved when you long in so it may be worth having an account while you are waiting to apply.

Paypal tries to sell me their credit card all the time. I already have their debit card, it's 1.5% cash back.. ONLY debit card in the world that I know of that gives you cash back. If you're going for the rewards, go for the paypal debit card, whatever it offers is better than their credit card. If you want the credit card, just keep a valid verified account for a while (that means w/ a bank acct verified on it), and they'll start trying to sell it to you in no time.

In 2004, I applied for the Amazon card during checkout to get $30 off purchase and was instantly approved with a $5K CL and they let me know what my cc number was immediately. The process was all automated; there didn't seem to have any human intervention. FICO score unknown at the time. It was the only card I have applied to online, but they approved me so instantly I thought they maybe approved anyone who bothered signing up. The $30 off was worth signing up for.

HOWEVER, If you don't mind doing this management, it's a great deal!

The more I read the more Amazon Visa seems like the way to go to get my feet wet with Credit again. My family has had an Amazon account for 2 years or so and we all buy everything on it. So if I simply apply through that account which is in good standing. I'd imagine/hope that as a long-standing customer that would contribute to any decision making process.
