Disappearing CLI buttons

Has anyone else noticed that CLI request buttons seem to be disappearing with more frequency? I can't find the love button on my AMEX or Discover cards anymore.

FOr discover it doesnt show up on your account page but if you d oa search for it, you will get a link and it will still tell you to cal a number. DEfinitely a HP for this one.

For AMEX, I have only had a revolver for 1 month now so I dont hink I have this option until I reach the 61st day, unless im missing it.

Discover disappeared sometime in December, you can probably still call in and request one though.

As for AmEx, I have a two week old charge card, don't know that my card would have that button.

I have had the Delta AmEx for a couple of years, and I just checked. I still have the "Increase Your Credit Limit" button. When I look at Recent Activity it is at the bottom of my list of charges.

Lol, love those responses! Thank You fellow myFICOers, I have read plenty about playing with that button. I'm staying away. I've done a $260 and a $1200 purchase on my card that went smooth already. I will try that button only if I need to!

When I had our Green Card, I played with that button constantly, because it was there. And I mean sometimes 2-3 times in one day, to the point of abuse, just to see how high it would go.

Not a peep from Amex.

I also used it everywhere (almost) people said not to use it, for fear of a FR. Not a peep.

I'm not encouraging anyone to do this if you are so fearful of a Amex FR. I just don't believe that is what triggers it. I think it is something else, a lot more serious than clicking a button, that causes Amex to flag accounts for a FR. Surely, Amex realizes people will play with that dang button if it's there. But then punish you if you do? I don't think so. That would be like giving my wife a box Sees candy for her birthday and telling her she can't eat it. It's only to look at. She would kill to get to it.

I have since closed the Green Card and have had the BCP for about 7 months and not once have I clicked the "Button", only because I know what the credit limit is.

I believe if we keep our reports clean, not go crazy with applications, pay our bills on time, every time, and not go over our CL, there would be no cause for all this paranoia.

This is just my experience and my opinion. YMMV.

Ditto...I used mine (Green) this morning at McDonalds. Used it at the 7-11 for ice and cold sodas. Use it at the stores for small purchases and large ones alike. I use it at Wal-Mart whenever I go there. Use it at the movies. No issues. However, once bitten, twice shy, I won't use it at a law firm ever again as that was the purchase that triggered my one and only FR.

i never got an FR,, they just called me cause i too played with the button on a new zync card,,, if u put out a button,, we will play with it!!

I am not gonna play with it because I really don't have the itch to play with it. I'll use it if I ever need to know about a certain purchase, but only when I'm about ready to make that purchase.

Caveat: The following is my own personal experience with Amex. YMMV and I'm not in any way suggesting you do the same. With that said:

I have to say I often play with this button; sometimes more than once within a 24 hour period. Sometimes 3 times. I'm sure the hair would stand up on the necks of most people here if I disclosed some of the amounts I get approved for! It's definitely not the average approval amount, which leads me to believe my internal limit is very high. I also ran through $200K+ in charges on just my platinum card last year alone; not including my gold business card... I'm hoping to get a Centurion invite soon.

Personally, I have never had an issue, they never contacted me as to why I'm checking my spending ability more often and they never FR'd me. I have no fear about hitting this button everyday and I just about do!

My point being is this; if a CC company offers us a feature we like and find useful - in this case the Amex spending ability button - we should not be afraid to use that feature. If we're afraid, that company probably isn't right for us.

I tend to do that for my Platinum since I do charge a lot on it every month for work. Max I ever checked was 10K and it was accepted. I was thinking AMEX was going to call me but they never did.

But for my Zync I have used the 'check your spending limit' 3 times only.

Considering the info. I doubt UM has checked his spending ability up to his hidden pre auth'd CL, If so, probably not often hitting it. If you check and your amount isn't high enough to go past the internal pre-set, the system doesn't care, I realllllly doubt he's checked a high enough amount to trigger an auto SP. The button, like UM and others have said (and this really proves it) is not the only path or ingredient to an FR. I avoid it as I feel why add points to their internal flagging system, plus, I have no reason to check (I always have a backup in case AMEX fails, which at what I put on it is very unlikely, and frankly, Z doesn't reward much for use lol).

I could be wrong here, but, I also doubt UM is carrying a ZYNC for his own use. He's also been with AMEX a while and with higher than average cash running through the accounts if he's expecting an invite for a Centurion. VERY few people are in with AMEX as it appears UM is. Which is why anyone reading this should take his "Caveat" very seriously. He's sort of saying "DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME" in a very polite way without bragging yet including enough info to explain why he's a bit above being FR'd just for checking with the button.

For myself, I'd be more worried about not running enough through their ZYNC if I didn't know they'd look at my report and see who else I'm using (maybe that'll prompt them to offer me a BCE\P, one can only hope). If they called I'd probably tell them "because I have cards that give 5% back a lot of the time, so I tend to use those". For me AMEX gave me some of my history back more so than any perks they offer with the ZYNC.
