Cap1 Credit Steps CLI attained

Went from $500 to $750 this morning (6th Statement)

I'm going to be hopeful and continue to use the card the same way I did the first 6 and see if these other steps are valid!

If I were a betting man I'd say enjoy the one and only increase that card is ever going to see. I'd bet in 5 years if you still have it then (which you won't) the limit would be 750.

Does your credit steps letter indicate that you are eligible for a single CLI or multiple CLIs ??

Yeah, I suppose there's hope that I could successfully pan for gold in my bathtub too, it's probably about as likely to happen as a Cap One CLI.

Congrats! My Cap One Platinum CL eventually increased to $1800. but it has stayed there for three years.

I agree. I was tempted for the venture a while back but the inqs pushed me away

For a prime card, when your at that point you should be INQ free on your reports so it's not as bad.

I agree, but, in their defense, it is a rebuilder card, and their policy is obviously that they want these people as customers, but are going to limit their exposure to risk as much as possible while chiseling every possible dollar out of you in fees.

So my beef isn't so much with the inquiries but the fact that as you grow and your credit improves, the card just is never going to grow with you.

Congrats on the increase! I have a credit steps MC and have been receiving decent increases so there is hope! Mine started at $500 then went to $750 at the six month mark, $1250 at nine months and then $1750 at ten-ish months. Good luck!

How did you manage that? That's almost unheard of. You're one of the few Stocks keep up the good work!

I'm sure it was a fluke and it probably won't budge now I always PIF but I have noticed that with the exception of the first increase to $750 all the other increases have come when I had a large balance on the card. Not a balance that carried over to the statement or accrued interest but the increases always came after I charged quite a few purchases in a relatively short time period. Maybe they were hoping that I would revert to the crappy credit practices of my youth and run it all the way up so they could make more money off me....lol

Some people are offered more than one CLI with this program, some people only can get one. It depends on what the credit steps letter states...

I've had a Cap1 card for 13 years....Paid it off several times, infact it is paid off right now. My credit limit is the same as it was 13 years ago, $1450!

I just found out that I'm in the Credit Steps program too. I opened my Capital One Platinum card in 9/2011 and they gave me a $2000 CL (with a $19 AF and crazy interest rate, but I always PIF). Apparently I get a $500 CLI if I use the card once (done) and pay my first 5 statements on time (almost done, I've received 3 statements so far). My letter says that I can get my CLI "by the 7th statement" but I'm hoping it shows up on the 6th one a little early. OP - was yours a "by the 7th statement" arrangement too?

I agree on both of your paragraphs.

If the card was growing with me, I would have no problem with it. But they told me my card has a ceiling of $3000 but they keep me at $500. Now that my aggravates me. This card has always been on time for the whole 4 years I have had it.
