The Verdict is in...

Went on App Spree 12/31/11...applied for Barclays Rewards Card...Approved $4,400...also applied for Walmart Card...Approved $1,000

Did another App Spree on 01/04/12 for the following credit cards:

Bank of America Signature Cash Rewards - Approved $5,000

Bank of America Amex Card - Approved $5,000

Chase Freedom - Approved $5,000

Amex Blue Sky - Approved $9,100 and backdating to 2004

Amex Gold Delta Sky Miles - Approved $9,100 and backdating to 2004

Citi Diamond Preferred - Approved $4,800

Citi Platinum - Approved $1,500 instantly but got it moved to $4,800 after speaking with executive customer service

Now come the pending and denials:

Chase Slate - Denied only due to already having a Slate card that was converted from a Chase card I have from years ago

Care Credit - Denied solely due to the INQ that appeared during my app spree on EQ (if I had known they were INQ sensitive I would have applied for them first)

FNBO - Pending (requested last 2 pay stubs and W2)

LFCU - Pending (requested last 2 pay stubs)

That amuses me to no end. Amex and other prime banks give you credit - even on revolving accounts - and GECRB denies you for Care Credit? Wow. It's not like you can go on a random shopping spree with a Care Credit account, you'd think they'd be even easier to get than other GE cards.

I can't speak for CU's but Sallie Mae and Nationwide both do manual reviews for approval and will go over your app with much scrutiny. That being said and considering this spree I wouldn't advise it. Honestly I'd settle with what you have and see how well you handle the new accounts you've gotten. My experience with having a lot of bank cards is you'll find that only a couple of them will serve your needs completely. It becomes a PITA trying to rotate cards to keep creditors happy

Congratulations, those are some really great cards there. You can pretty much kiss the barclay card goodbye, but with all those excellent cards, who cares. Were there any other cards you wanted, or did you get everhing you want aside from the care credit.

Yea I was really surprised when it came back denied...I called to find out why and was told I had to wait on the denial letter. I asked to reconsider for any amount but was told to reapply in 90 days. When I got the letter I was shocked the only reason for denial was due to recent INQ. I had 2 on EQ before my app spree. I tried to time my applications within a 30 min time span hoping maybe the INQ wouldn't be seen by the other creditors yet.

Congrats on all of the approvals ! But I have to ask - what does your AAoA look like now ~ even with the backdated Amex cards it will probably take a large hit...

Thanks and my AAoA was 8 years 8 months before applying for any credit cards and now it's down to 6.5 years excluding the 2 Amex cards which haven't reported yet.

OK 6 months is good! At least you'll let some of those INQ's age, and possibly get that CareCredit card!!
