American Express Optima question?

Has anyone tried to PC an American Express Optima card?

I would like to go to a BCP if possible.

I have not tried, but I'm 99.999% sure that is a no. You will have to close your Optima card to apply for any other AMEX product. If you apply while your Optima is open, you'll be denied based on having a "rebuilder" product. I've read here that some have closed their account, waited a few days and applied for another product and were approved. I would call Amex (get the backdoor number for Optima as most CSRs don't know about the OASIS program) and see if you're preapproved for anything or what are your chances. If you close the optima you CANNOT open it again.

I thought Oaisis and Optima were two completely different product lines?

I don't think PC from Optima. You might be able to change into Blue Sky Amex a couple of years.

Noah had an Optima and applied for other cards and got approved. i remember reading that thread and saved it.

You can call amex and just ask them a general question before giving them your info, that's usually what i do with amex when i have a general question.

This just gets better and better. Either AMEX updated or I missed it before.

DW has 3 AMEX CCs that she opened just a few months ago. Green, Optima and Delta. Well, they changed the Date Opened that they report to the CRAs to 2000. That's the date DW originally opened her AMEX Green that we defaulted on back in 2005.

So, 3 new TLs opened just a few months ago have been backdated to the date when she first opened an AMEX.

I'm speechless, but pleased.

I used to have a Platinum Optima card with a $25,000 revolving credit line, not exactly a rebuilder card. If I remember correctly, you had to have a Platinum regular AmEx to be offered the revolving Optima. I say "used to have" because I got rid of all of my AmEx cards 5-6 years ago when I got tired of the AF's, so I'm not exactly sure what an Optima is today.

If I remember correctly, I had a Gold Optima account back in the 80's......

Wow - maybe mine was PLT then. Too long ago to remember! I did have one though. Found a receipt for a camera that I bought with it and that is waht eventually got my Amex cards backdated to 1979...

Called AMEX and the answer is NO!!!!!

You have to apply for a new card and then cancel the Optima.

So i guess i will SD this card......I dont want to take a hit for inquiry.
