Union Bank Black AMEX

Is anyone familiar with Union Bank CCs... either their Amex or Visa? Their Amex looks like it has pretty good rewards. They even have a black Amex! If I understand the backdating correctly, this card would NOT backdate, because it's admistered by Union Bank, is that right? Does anyone know how hard/easy it is to be approved with them?

I only looked at the graphite one, but I'm not sure I would want it.

Qualifying Gas and/or Grocery Transactions are Qualifying Credit Card Transactions as defined below.

I guess if the 3% cashback on airfare ends up being better than the rewards for the "real" AMEX travel cards then it would be worth it. Too bad it's not 3% cash back on everything That would certainly warrant a $99 AF.

No, it is not issued by Union Bank. Union Bank American Express Card and Union Bank Graphite American Express Card are issued by First Bankcard, a division of First National Bank of Omaha.

First National Bank of Omaha are very conservative. I recommend taking your chances with Key Bank or US Bank

You are correct that this card will not backdate. Only cards underwritten by AMEX will do this.

Right, Union Bank doesn't offer their own cards, at least not that I've seen.

In my experience, you're better off going to a direct lenders, such as FNBO in this case, if you really want the card. All things being equal, aside from the Fid AmEx, I'd rather get an amex directly from...well...AmEx.

This card is basically the AMEX PRG, just with cashback in place of MR points and lower AF. Nothing too far from the norm IMO.

You should say the AMEX PRG with hard limit. We cannot compared both Amex and this card. I'm sure Amex customer service is better than FNBO.

Thanks for all of the replies. If they're a more conservative lender, then it's not a good idea for me right now. It is a cool looking card, tho.

No. I don't want them to remove partial amount of credit from my Platinum Visa. I didn't find anything special on the other cards.

$10.5K was initially approved and they didn't ask for paystub. They pulled EXP.

It was pre-approval from the mail last July. I applied online thru special link and I didn't get instant decision. I checked the application status online and I got approved for $10.5K. The card didn't come with any rewards and it has 11.99% fixed for life. I used it once or twice to keep it open. Banks usually don't ask for paystub unless too many inquiries on your credit report. CUs usually ask for paystub except Alliant. I got pre-approval when I joined.

Ahh I see...in my case I just went to their website and picked out one of their cards This was done during my app spree but they were like 1st or 2nd in line though and believe I only had 2 inq at the time of apping. When you applied for Alliant membership they instantly preapproved you for a card without needing to apply for one?
