Sig has a limit you can go over, some extra benifits like concierge, and a min limit of 5K. Platinum doesnt.

Regarding the language of naming cards: Has anyone noticed or thought about the difference between select and preferred cards? From the ones I've seen preferred seems to imply "better than", such as to designate the higher version of similar cards. Example: Chase Sapphire vs. Sapphire Preferred, Amex BCE vs. BCP. On the other hand, the word select seems to designate a version that is "less than". Example: Priority Pass vs. Priority Pass Select, Visa platinum vs. Platinum select. Are there any exceptions to this generalization? Am I completely nuts and on the wrong path?

Preferred usually means annual fee and more points or benifits offers.

http://www.differencebetween.net/business/difference-between-visa-signature-and-platinum/
