BestBuy MasterCard Instant Approval...Recon on limit?

I just got an instant approval for BestBuy's MasterCard with a $300 limit. It didn't initially give me a limit and I had to go check. Also, it said that it was under review.

I was wondering if anyone had any luck with calling to ask for a recon on a higher limit. My potential purchase (and reason for applying for the card) is a more than this.

I have not had much luck reconing for higher limits with HSBC. I have had them offer to waive my AF if I threaten to cancel.

BB MasterCard is not really a card to get a high limit on, it's more for rebuilding. What are your current FICO scores?

No harm in trying but in my experience HSBC will only give CLI every 6 months.

I started at $750 on mine in 3/2010, was increased to $1050 in 6 months (Auto CLI) then I requested a CLI last month and went to $1570. All of the increases where softs on EFX.

Try applying with chase for their freedom, or with discover for their more card. Your scores aren't bad, you could likely get a decent card since chase pulls TU first.

You might get CLI when you tell me you might want to close your account. I did that three years ago. They gave me $250 CLI plus half of AF.

I went ahead and tried for the Discover More. Got a review message and that I would get a response in 5 - 7 days. It wasn't an instant approval, but wasn't an instant denial either. I remembered when that used to be all that I received.

Discover is great, love their CSRs. I once chatted with one for an hour lol
If they deny you for inquiries, call them for a recon, tell them that you applied for those other cards before you really researched who you wanted to work with, and that you intend to use discover as your primary card if you are approved because they have such great customer service. I don't think you'll be denied, but if you are I would definitely recon!

Did you apply in store for Best Buy Store Card and got counter offer for this MC?

You don't usually apply for the MasterCard version if you want to finance something in the Best Buy Store... The Store Card is.

I did not apply on the store. I filled out the application online and it came back as an approval for the MC.

So you applied for the MasterCard not the store card?

I hate to be the brick wall but you will not get a higher CL.... it's VERY hard to even get a person on the phone here in the states let alone someone that has any control to overturn the computer decisions to approve, decline, CLI, etc.

It is hard in general to get increases on this crd. I would give them a call and try though!

I got an an auto CLI from $400 to $600 at 6 months. After a year at $600, nothing. Called the back door number and got a bump to $1050. The analyst I spoke with said accounts were eligible every 6 months. I know everyone says HSBC isn't great at giving CLI but I was able to get them on both of my HSBC backed cards last month. I definitely think its a YMMV situation.

I was just approved for this card as well. I called to cancel the app once I found out about the low CL and the AF. It took three calls but I was finally transferred to someone whose obvious job was to retain my business. She asked me what I planned on using the card for. I told her I would use the card exclusively at Best Buy to increase my rewards. She cut the AF down to $29 and told me she could not help me with a CLI until the card had been activated. Not sure I believe the last part but if they don't follow through with the CLI I'll close it immediately.

I got approved for $300 BBRZMC Gold a couple of years when my credit was not good. They offered me $150 CLI and half of AF for the first year. I told them to close it. I didn't see any future on that card and I closed it. It was $300 CL and $59. AF. One year later, I applied again, I got approved for BBRZMC Platinum. By the way, the CSRs are the helpless and they offered no help when you have problem.
