Hi Credit Scholar,

The Chase CO OPP has the silver mastercard logo. I just PCed to the Chase CO PP from OPP and it doesn't have a silver logo. It has the standard MC logo on the back. The Chase CO PP just has your name on the front with "CHASE" on the right-hand side as I just got it in the mail yesterday. The back is pretty standard saying WORLD ELITE with the yellow/orange MC logo and hologram. It uses raised lettering like the Chase Sapphire Preferred for your name and card info on the back.

I think the silver MC logo is just if cards want to use it. I found that some of the graphics on Chase/Citi's site are misleading. The Art department doesn't seem to pay too much attention. Coincidentally, the PP card is made of the same material as the OPP, but looks a little cheaper, even though you pay more for the AF. You get the card in a plain envelope with a brochure. It states that your welcome book with full details come a few weeks after. Ugh. Lot of good that does me now!

I would say the criteria is that it must be a top tier card.

Silver Mastercard logo

Does anyone know what the guidelines are for which cards have this? Some of the higher-end mastercards have a silver logo in the corner: Chase CO OPP, Chase CO PP, Citi AA Executive, etc.

At first I thought that it was only for World Elite cards, but the OPP is World and not World Elite. Both have silver logos. Any ideas?

According to a MasterCard guideline sheet, the silver logo is exclusively for select World Elite products. However the fact sheet might be outdated because clearly some World cards have it too. I doubt they will open it up to all tiers, probably just the World and World Elite. Visa only allows it for Visa Signature and Visa Infinite.

I have a feeling though that it will end up being a Visa signature, since current United cards are visa as well. I highly doubt that they'd have the explorer as visa and their new PP as MC.
