So even though this card has been talked about to death, I have been considering it. Apparently some of the info on these forums is very off from what J P says. There are more benefits that haven't been said yet according to a rep. I will be sent more info on the benefits and services. Looking for a card to compliment Amex Platinum. The card must be worth the AF in more than just melting value. I do plan on traveling more often. Any suggestions?

As long as the rewards compensate for the loss of income when paying the annual fees. I find that most of the benefits for upper premium cards are better for international travel and not neccessarily domestic.

That income is after all bills, taxes, and debt. It was also almost a year ago. Flyertalk has a few owners who have nothing but praise it. Platinum paid its annual fee within the first 15 days on travel. With the apps I make, I have a feeling ill be traveling more often to meet with clients. I do appreciate all opinions though. Please keep in mind that I do not see this a status, but a tool to kep with travel.

Platinum - $450 Palladium - $595** Select - $95 Saphhire - 95$. Thats over half your said monthly income for 1 month in AFs? Is it really worth it....

I do not recall saying I made 24K. When my company is paying for the travel it works out. I would like sapphire to have more travel benefits like plat, palladium is the closest Chase offers.

"

Minimum Income and Amex Plat

Options

05-18-2011 10:17 AM

Hello All,

I was hoping someone could provide me guidance before I apply for an Amex Plat Charge. My current income is 24k but I travel a good bit. My taravel is paid for and I have the option of paying for travel and being reinbursed for it. This travel is not included in the 24k. They sent me an offer for 25k MR with 1k spend in 3 months and im really considering this card. I was wondering if this income would be enough for this card though. If anyone has any experience with this please let me know.

Thanks "

This is the post I was referring to.

But to your point I guess that could work out to be beneficial if you're charging your flights and getting reimbursed then essentially you're getting the rewards for free. As long as the rewards compensate for the loss of income when paying the annual fees. I find that most of the benefits for upper premium cards are better for international travel and not neccessarily domestic.

Thank you for highlighting that. That income is after all bills, taxes, and debt. While not much, I recently just got a new job that is several times that. I love to travel and put value in customer service.

I feel you. I have my fair share of AFs by design, but from speaking with Amex Reps I've always been told the PR Gold is best for point accumulation so you may want to ask more specifically for a card that matchs your habits with what you're goals are.

Did you call them for a benefits package? I'm interested in the expanded benefits you said the rep mentioned. I was eventually going to consider either the Citi AA Exec or the Amex Platinum, but if there are more benefits than they are letting on this could be interesting.

24k daily, weekly, monthly or annually? It does not imply nor does it say which, but I guess most readers leave it open to their own interpretation when only limited information is supplied.

Hope you enjoy the Palladium once you are approved.

The rep sent 3 large pdf's of brochures explaining the features of the card. There over 100 pages long. I will take a hard look at them to evaluate if the card is worth it or not. He also gave me the app, fax number, mailing number, and his personal contact if I have any questions.
