If you're a student, student cards are definitely easier. As for regular cards, I don't really know...but the Dividend card is pretty popular, which I guess you could say means it's not THAT hard to get.

Citi is generally pretty good with giving nice starting CL's. My Dividend Student started at $4,000...6 months is coming up so I don't know what will happen when I ask for a CLI. But the $4,000 was and still is far and away my highest CL of all my cards.

I'm interested in apping for a Citi credit card next year (lol), I was denied last month, so I figured I'd wait a year. There are so many so It's hard to select one that will give me my best chance of getting approved. If I maintain my current EQ/TU FICO scores or higer, what's the Citi card I should go for? And my highest CL is on my Discover right now..not sure how they are with CLI's so let's just say it's the same amount next year $1500, will Citi beat that? I'm trying to get a credit card with a limit of $2000 - $5000 CL next year.

A couple of things about Citi:

-Their accounts are generally not that difficult to qualify for (I.E., you can typically get an account with low AAoA, etc., no "1 year" requirements like Chase/Amex) (Citi was my first unsecured card).

-They've become pretty inquiry sensitive lately, so look out for that.

-They usually offer nice starting CLs.

I don't have solid evidence to back this up, but I looked around on the internet for the same information, and the consensus seemed to be that the Platinum Select was the easiest. I applied for it and sure enough, I got approved (I had applied for Driver's Edge some time ago and was denied.)

I have been working on my credit since my bankruptcy 4 years ago.

I have a Walmart card for 1,200.00 when opened and a few increases to 1,900.00

I got message on Walmart site that I quilify for upgrade to Walmart Discover card.

I accepted and got approved for 4,000.00.

I also applied for Sam's club Dicover card approved for 3,000.00.

I also have other cards, And my fico score is showing at 755.

I wanted to get a Diamond Preferred card from Citi bank.

I applied online and was denied right away, was feeling sad.

I waited throught out the day and called at night.

The recorder said I was denied due to a Bankruptcy.

I could not believe they would still look at that after 4 years.

I guess if you have a bankruptcy, you better wait longer.

Citi pulled experian and I live in Southern California.

Transunion 693 Experian 725 Equifax 698

citi pulls EX here in CA in my experience for new apps and they are NOT BK friendly. (always exceptions and their co-branded cards are for sure)

For a creditor, BK is a pretty significant risk indicator, so not sure why you are surprised that they looked back 4 years! But, as CA says, Citi isn't known to be BK-friendly

Citi Dividend Platinum Select (Student version) was my second card. I got it with total 6 months of credit history and one existing credit card. Starting limit was $2k (still there). The bonus categories are not the best but not bad either. Plus 1% cashback on all purchases otherwise. Much better than Thankyou points, which seems difficult to figure out.

Citi seems to give decent starting CLs as well as CLIs in my experience. My first one ever was the Diamond Preferred. I have many Citi cards and they were all pretty easy to get. I was given the lowest limit wih their Surpass.

Ugh.

I've been trying for a Citi for awhile. They don't like the one open collection that I have, even though it's more than six years old. It's the only reason they cite in their denial letter. Kind of annoying.

I tried for the Dividend thinking that would be the easy one.
