This is how they've been reporting on my EX since Sept, always at the end of the month for the month that just ended. I'm quite sure it's the same on the others but I don't check them that often.

Timothy,

OK, you got me wondering... So, I check Amex CreditSecure. I have three Amex cards: green, blue, and clear. EX is current with all three (Dec stmt balances). TU and EQ are still showing one month behind (Nov stmt balances).

I know Amex is usually one month behind. It has always been that way for me (over the past 7 years). All of my accts have stmt dates early in the month - they range from the 3rd through the 8th.

Strange.

I also have 3 Amex cards: Blue Cash, Starwood, IN:NYC. EX was 737 about a month ago but at the time I got them I don't know my exact score but I'd imagine I was in the mid-600's. I applied for Delta Gold, HHonors, and Starwood within all within the course of a week and was approved for all.

The main thing about AmEx for their biggie cards is that they don't don't want to see any BK's at all, whatsoever, no lates of any kind within the last two years, and probably some others as well.

They have some cards (Delta, Starwood, Hilton Honors) with lower score requirements, and many people call and use the magic phrase "product change" to switch to a different card, usually one of the Blues. BUT they haven't figured out what to do with this new credit demographic, and they are famous for almost immediately asking you to report all your financial facts of life after you get your card.

They seem to have an internal war going as to whether they want to expand their customer markets or not.

So if you do this, great, but keep a non-AmEx card handy, and be prepared to give all the details of your financial life. I don't think it's out of line for them to ask this, but I do think that they ought to ask this upfront, if they're going to pucker up about having you as a cardholder.
